While Facebook gets a lot of the attention when it comes to 'sexy' marketing campaigns by brands, there are some great examples to come from Twitter, that show how brands are using the platform to their advantage, to engage with followers in new ways. They hid tickets to the festival all over the city, and shared the location with users via a map. Microsoft committed one of the worst blunders in social networking marketing when it launched a Twitter campaign several days ago using the horrific disaster in Japan as a way to boost Bing. To its eventual credit, Microsoft apologized and donated money to Japanese disaster relief. But what was the company thinking when it launched the campaign?
