Larry King's Replacement: Who's In, and Who's Out? Howard Stern to replace Larry King? (poll, photos) Forget American Idol. Howard Stern's name has now been tossed in to the ring for the lead position of a much grander television institution--as Larry King's replacement on CNN's Larry King Live. Larry King announced Monday that he plans to detach his suspenders after 25 years of nightly interviews with thousands of celebrities from flashes in the pan to intergenerational icons. Though King isn't retiring until November, entertainment gossip hounds began speculating on his replacement before the withered birdman finished croaking out the announcement.
