Fox Gives Full-Season Pickup to 'New Girl' 'New Girl' Premieres Huge, Beats 'Glee'! America, no matter your thoughts on the word "adorkable," you like Zooey Deschanel. You really, really like her. Around 11 million viewers tuned in to 'New Girl' for the actress' series regular TV debut Tuesday night, making the new Fox sitcom the highest-rated show for the night with a 4.8 rating among adults 18-49. The comedy, about a woman who moves in with three dudes after a bad breakup, fared even better among women 18-34, scoring a 6.6 rating in that demo. 'New Girl' is Fox's biggest fall sitcom debut since 'Cedric the Entertainer Presents' in 2002. (Though let's hope 'New Girl' fares better than that one-season wonder.)

What's most interesting about the 'New Girl' ratings is that the pilot for the show has been available to watch (for free) since early September via cable On Demand, Fox.com, Hulu and iTunes. Fox's other shows fared well, too. Tell us: Did you watch 'New Girl' on TV last night even though you had seen the pilot before it aired? Fox's 'New Girl' Gets Early Push on iTunes, Hulu and Fox.com. Isabella Vosmikova/FOX New Girl's Zooey Deschanel New Girl is getting an early push ahead of its Sept. 20 premiere. Fox has plans to give potential viewers an early peek at the entire first episode of the roommate comedy series starring Zooey Deschanel on multiple digital platforms, including Apple's iTunes, Hulu and Fox.com. The strategy would seem to place buzz generation ahead of fears of viewer cannibalization.

The episode's iTunes push begins Sept. 6, which if successful could provide two weeks' worth of chatter for a series Fox has paired with younger-skewing Glee. The half-hour effort, which Fox brass is hoping will improve its flawed reputation in the live-action comedy space, will roll out on Fox.com and Hulu on Sept 13 at 12:05 am, and will remain available for streaming through 11:55 pm on Sept. 19. The latest marketing outreach follows an aggressive plan which began last month with hotel and in-flight viewings as well as screenings in select cities with Fox affiliates. NEW GIRL - First Look Trailer.

FOX Announces New 2011 Fall Comedy Series “New Girl” Starring Zooey Deschanel. NEW GIRL (working title) is a new single-camera comedy from Liz Meriwether (“No Strings Attached”) that features a young ensemble cast and takes a fresh and outrageous look at modern male/female relationships. JESS DAY (Zooey Deschanel, “(500) Days of Summer”) is an offbeat and adorable girl in her late 20s who, after a bad breakup, moves in with three single guys. Goofy, positive, vulnerable and honest to a fault, Jess has faith in people, even when she shouldn’t. Although she’s dorky and awkward, she’s comfortable in her own skin. More prone to friendships with women, she’s not used to hanging with the boys – especially at home. Of the three male roommates, NICK (Jake Johnson, “No Strings Attached”) is the most grounded.

SCHMIDT (Max Greenfield, “Ugly Betty”) is a hustling young professional who fancies himself a modern-day Casanova. The third roommate, COACH (Damon Wayans Jr., “The Underground”), is a former high school athlete who currently makes his living as a personal trainer.
