Google Flight Search goes global | The Verge

http://www.theverge.com/2012/3/15/2874639/google-global-flight-search Google's just announced that Flight Search, which launched last year as a desktop-only service with only domestic US flights, will now allow users to search for international flights. It's the second major update to Flight Search in just a few weeks, after Google brought the service to Android and iOS in February. Google says that it's included more than 500 airports outside of the US, and that it is "working hard on expanding our global coverage and adding more routes in the future" — hopefully that means it'll finally offer some routes to Maui .

Shortly after releasing software for audio and video chat as an open-source project called WebRTC as open-source software, Google is beginning to build it into its Chrome browser. The real-time chat software originated from Google's 2010 acquisition of Global IP Solutions (GIPS) , a company specializing in Internet telephony and videoconferencing.

How Larry Page Thinks About Search

Google's SVP of the search division, Alan Eustace, stuck around to answer a few questions after today's Google Inside Search event , and he gave some new insights into the way CEO Larry Page thinks about search. Here are some long term goals: Answers, not just results. Page isn't satisfied with the fact that Google only provides a set of disconnected Web results queries, and wants it to provide more organized and sequenced results. For instance, conducting a search on "what's the best way to build a space suit?" might provide a set of instructional videos first, followed by businesses that can provide supplies, engineering resources, and so on to complete the actual task. http://www.businessinsider.com/how-larry-page-thinks-about-search-2011-6?op=1
