The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God".
The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a "Muslim", The word also implies "peace" which is the natural consequence of total submission to the will of Allah. Hasanisoc.net. كان هو الهدف الرئيسي لتأسيس الجمعية وقد بدأ بحلقات ودروس شرعية لعدد من الشبان الأتراك الذين حضروا إلى دمشق فجمعهم الشيخ بدر الدين عابدين ورعاهم واعتنى بهم وجنّد نفسه لكل ما يحتاجونه من خدمات وعلم وغذاء ومأوى وأسكنهم في مدرسة المقدمية في حيّ العمارة عام 1957م, وكان عددهم وقتذاك ثلاثين طالباً.
بدأ عدد الطلاب بالتزايد, وانتقلت المدرسة إلى المدرسة الأمينية في سوق الحرير للتدريس فيها ولمبيت بعض الطلاب، مع بقاء قسم منهم يبيتون في مدرسة المقدمية وقسم آخر في الغرف المنشأة بجوار ضريح المحدث الأكبر الشيخ محمد بدر الدين الحسني في باب الصغير. استمر عدد الطلاب بالتزايد فبلغ عددهم (175) طالباً عام 1961م ولم تعد المدرسة الأمينية تتسع لهم، مما اضطر القائمين على الجمعية لاستئجار مقر جديد في باب الجابية، حيث خصصت غرفه الأرضية للتدريس بينما كانت الغرف العلوية للمبيت إضافة إلى المبيتات الأخرى.. في عام 1963م أثمرت الجهود و تخرّج من المعهد التابع للجمعية /23/ طالباً أنهوا دراساتهم ثم غادروا دمشق إلى موطنهم لينقلوا علومهم إلى بلادهم..
