Get flash to fully experience Pearltrees
As a ritual we went to the local Second Sunday Antique Faire and only found a couple of cool things this time. There were a lot of other dealers shopping this weekend. We did see a few friends there including our friend and antique hunter Dennis. Here is a cool art deco clock like the one I restored before… This is a "Syroco Wood 8 Day Jeweled" clock.

Monday — February 13th, 2012 This happened a couple months ago. I’ve been trying to be positive and not complain too much about my life to acquaintances. I thought my honesty would be endearing, but it’s more like Debbie Downer just entered the vicinity.Sjätte skottet (“The Sixth Shot”) is a 1943 Swedish movie about a woman who happens upon a man about to take his life and talks him out of it. He has only one talent, he’s a terrific sharpshooter, and together they form an act where he shoots a gun at her, knife thrower style. There’s lots of drama and suspense and I thought it was a great and original picture. With the carnival setting and dark tone it reminded me a bit of Nightmare Alley . The starring actors are Edvin Adolphson and Karin Ekelund, and two important supporting parts are played by Nils Lundell and a beautiful young Gunn Wållgren.

As always, moving house means that you must sort, pack, then un-pack all of your worldly goods. Sometimes you come across items that you haven’s seen for a while, as I did with my precious ‘Delineater’ magazines from the 20s and 30s. It was with glee that found a group of 4 many years ago in a tiny out of town antique store, and I love them to bits, but I had carefully stored them away and had almost forgotten I had them!

*Warning* Polishing bakelite is highly addictive. Do not continue unless you want to spend hours in antique shops scouring for yellowed bangles just to polish off the patina and see what color is underneath. You also may annoy your friends by constantly showing them before and after pictures. They will not fully understand.Wearing History
This is the last of the tutorials in honor of the 1910s blouse pattern. In this tutorial we will learn how to do French seams. French seams are a great seam finish and the technique is quite old- most of the original lingerie blouses and dresses I have seen from the Edwardian period have this finish for their seams. I’ve seen it on the inside of lovely sheer chiffon 1920s and 1930s garments, and it is still used today on fine fabrics and sheers where you want a nice clean finish on the inside but don’t want the fabrics to ravel and don’t want an overlock stitch visible through the sheer. And, of course, your fabric. I do suggest trying this out on scraps before starting a final garment to make sure you understand technique.~Welcome to DeluxeVille~

Eversince I got an invite from my aunt Erika for Pinterest, I developed a new addiction. I am literally spending hours and hours finding images for interior inspirations, places I love, lovely animals etc on Google, websites and Pinterest itself to pin onto my created boards. Yesterday I decided to make a board with silver screen actors and actresses with pets. I became very enthusiastic and wanted to share a small grip from my large collection here on Blogspot!Tuppence Ha'penny
I became aware of the Wearable Vintage Fashion book or the idea of the book quite a while ago because… well, let’s just say I’m a regular to Second Hand Rose! Many a time did I pop into the shop with a bag of my treasured vintage bits and bobs for Clare and Jo to photograph- In fact, I counted over the 80 mark of my stuff actually in the book- OK so a few of the bits did come home with me too!!! I rather excitedly received my copy a couple of weeks ago (read: quite a few weeks ago- oops, sorry girls!), so here’s my little review…. Don't you find many vintage fashion books showcase the crème de la crème of vintage, showing pieces that are more likely to be found behind the glass at a museum, rather than behind the humble doors of our closets!

Sunday morning the army of breakfast eaters set out to try a new location in portland. This week we chose Ned Ludd on MLK. I am by no means a critic, or hold any ground in the breakfast review world, but it still saddens me to share my first lack lustre Breakfast Army experience. I want to start of with the servers were so lovely! Very attentive service with a friendly smile. The decor of this place was kind of like an old world hunting lodge, with stacks of wood and huge chandeliers covered in cobwebs...The Freelancer's Fashionblog
I've been wearing a lot of sixties styled dresses lately. That's because they are cut in a way to fit my belly. I don't have an urge to absolutely have to dress according to a decade from the past, and now that a fifties waist is out of the question it's not like I have to jump on to the next vintage period available. No, of course not. (My sister said, when I in the beginning of pregnancy said there seemed to be quite little interesting maternity wear out there, "maybe now you can dress like normal people for a while".You might have noticed one of my advertisers to the right called The Proper Lady. It is a fabulous blog on manners and ettiquette. Just as I adore teaching you kittens all things glamorous, so too does The Proper Lady teach you all types of social graces, femininity, and refinement. I had a chance to interview Nina and here is what she had to say about modern manners, vintage living, and her experience as a blogger: 1) How did you get started with blogging?
