First, I appreciate the discussion last week spawned. Transparency isn’t super easy on a lot of people, and just about everyone was really civil about it. There’s another experiment up at the top! This one I think is a much better fit for the comic – maybe not nearly as jarring of a transition. It also fits in with the conceit of Charlie actually writing this in her journal.

The Intrepid Girlbot · odd tales of robot fancy · Updates M-W-F
So this week, Girlbot will be starting up again after a nice break, but things will be different this time around. I think it will be a good thing! For one, this is the start of volume two of the story, so the character set-up stage is finally done. I’ll be spending more time doing silly comedy, as well as getting on with exploring the ideas I have for Girlbot, story-wise and world-wise. Girlbot started out as more of an odd gag strip and then grew into something with a story and a continuity, which actually bring me to my second point… Girlbot will no longer be a comic strip, per se.

Oceanverse
I always feel compelled to put the (for now) because I really do think there will be more Oceanverse in the future. It just won’t look like this. Thanks to everyone who stopped by over the past (nearly) three years. Starting a new webcomic is like throwing a cup of water into the ocean. It’s hard-pressed to get noticed.
In other news… Catena is still on hiatus. We go on hiatus when we have to take on other jobs that keep us from doing Catena (eg: most of the coloring work we do involves a 60 hour work week). I’m hoping a Kickstarter campaign might help with that.

Dragon Heroes - Online comic
As a kid I wanted to achieve my dream to write, illustrate and publish a book to show people that with hard work anything is possible. I believe that everybody has some kind of dream and seeing that someone else achieving their dream would give them hope. I have now published two books and Dragon Heroes were one of my other projects with this purpose. I think Starbucks will be the company that will invent matter teleportation. They will give away a small receiver to keep on your desk that will be registered to a credit card. Hit the little green button on the front and the barista in the mothership will make your drink and zap it right to you. People will now have the stamina to work longer hours to fuel their caffeine/sugar habits.

Buttersafe – Updated Tuesdays and Thursdays
Two things: 1) ECCC 2012 was great. Got to hang out with some good friends and got to make some new ones. Equally awesome was that we got to meet a whole lotta nice Buttersafe readers too! Thank you guys for your support!
Since I'm posting this on Wednesday instead of Friday, I guess I can mention this again: The Kickstarter fundraiser for Book 2 is in its final 24 hours! (If I had planned this, I would have told you on Monday, I swear!) We now have 321 very generous backers (as of this writing) — more than for Book 1, and have raised over $4,000 more than Book 1, as well. Thank you very, very much to everybody involved! As an extra thank you to the Kickstarter backers, I am giving away TWO sheets of pencils or inks from the zombie movie arc, one each to two random Kickstarter backers.
