Can you believe that our latest DIY project was once just a couple of junky pallets and some scrappy table legs? Crazy…if I didn’t have photos, I wouldn’t believe it myself. Not too long ago, we whipped out a coffee table sized succulent table out of an old shipping crate. Now we scaled it up. The pallets. First bit of advice, deconstructing pallets are a big pain unless you have the right tools…and our hammer and wall scrapper wasn’t quite doing the trick. Couple good planks. Ombre DIY: Dresser From IKEA

In February I talked about the ombre trend (here) and now in June I still find myself really loving it. That is why when this image arrived in my inbox I couldn’t resist posting it. I love this! And the best part about this look is that all you need is a dresser and some paint – pretty easy to come by and in most cases, this can be an affordable DIY project. IKEA Livet Hemma in Sweden recently painted TARVA, their new dresser, in tones of apricot and I love it. The easiest way to get the colors right is to simply work off of a paint card at the home store and buy the shades on it in the color that you like the most and paint them in the exact order on your dresser drawers as they appear on the card, from lightest (on the top) to darkest (on the bottom).

In the meantime, here are some of my favorite DIY projects. {A CHARMING NEST}: {New Bedside Tables...they're a RAST hack} Do you want to turn this... into this? Rast dressers from IKEA are pretty boring on their own (no offense, IKEA, you know I heart you), but I have seen IKEA's Rast pine dresser transformed into fabulous end tables out there in the blogosphere! Look what Lindsay and Aubrey did to their Rast for their bedroom.

Absolutely divine...I love the mix of wood and paint. Pallet reading bed for the nursery. Fast and Fabulous Decorating Projects. Before & after: painted plank headboard. I may have discovered my new favorite color palette, thanks in no small part to this painted headboard from Heather.

Doesn’t the gold, wood, cream and ochre combination look fantastic? So rich and warm, and incredibly soothing. I can not believe how easy this project was and I love the result! I added curved lines and nailhead trim which made the project a little more difficult, but it was still pretty easy. Since there are already a million tutorials on the internet I didn't take many how-to pictures but this is basically how I did it. An old door turned into a custom headboard is a double whammy of awesomeness. When Jessica submitted her entry for the Epic Room Makeover she shared that she had an awesome door that she wanted to use for a headboard. I was all over that idea, it’s a project that I have been wanting to do for a super long time. She had originally bought the door for this exact project. Jess said that the door was just a little longer than the bed was wide and that she was planning on using it as is.
