The Sartorialist

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 Sure, everyone will notice the socks but what is more subtle and interesting is the very long shirt collar and the “French” placement of the pants pockets. I love the idea of a demure Peter Pan collar blouse with a short black leather skirt…..sweet and a little sinister.

style rookie

http://www.thestylerookie.com/ Oy vey, I've given up on collecting all the images/playlists/collages/stickers/diary entries/etc. necessary for my usual all-encompassing VIBES posts. The task has suddenly become really daunting! And tedious! And a blog is probably not the best format for being retrospective and examining all the music/movies/outfits/etc.
For the atmosphere and the deco, for the shopping – Isabel Marant, Suno, Rochas and Jil Sander mixed with younger brands and treasures Maryam brings back from her travels… And of course for Maryam herself, but I’ll tell you more about her soon. Her blog is pretty cool if you’re interested in her aesthetic. If you’re in New York for the holidays, what’s nice to do in the neighborhood is to go to Maryam’s, then go check Narnia, a really cool vintage store. Then you can make a stop at Schiller’s, a delicious yet a little bit over trendy restaurant (which is exactly what you want when you visit a city) that gets a little bit too crowded during the weekend (brunch nightmaaaare !)

The Man Repeller

http://www.manrepeller.com/ Yesterday I tweeted a call for help that went like this: "hey! Let's play a game called help me write my book, content suggestions welcome!" Exclamation points and everything. The game is still not over so do take this opportunity should you feel so inclined to interject an idea or two in the comment box below low low and behold hold hold. The feedback was great, appreciated, smart and funny, I particularly liked one idea though, not necessarily for the sake of a book filled with words not photos, but rather for right here, where dreams are made and crushed in one instantaneous click.

(Sweater: Topshop, Skirt: H&M, Shoes: LF, Necklace: Karen Walker) I recently discovered this hotel (Lola) right by my apartment. I loved the modern European feel to it so it was kind of a given that we were going to photograph in front of it. I bought this sequined sweater a while ago, but I never seem to wear it. I hate when I see something in my closet every day and am too lazy to come up with a new look for it. Finally, I had a moment where I was ready to be sparkly and give off a golden shine - so I decided to pair it with a summery solid skirt. http://www.somethingnavy.com/

BoF – The Business of Fashion

Liu Wen for Estée Lauder | Source: Estée Lauder BEIJING, China — For the past few years, all eyes have been on China. Captivated by the country’s rapidly expanding economy, large population and seemingly insatiable appetite for luxury goods, global fashion brands have focused their efforts on the Middle Kingdom, opening glittering stores in megacities like Beijing and Shanghai, as well as fast growing middleweight cities like Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Tianjin, and hosting high-profile public relations events, from exclusive VIP dinners to famously large-scale productions like Fendi’s runway spectacular on The Great Wall. And judging from recent figures, the results have been strong. According to the Boston Consulting Group, sales of luxury fashion goods in China increased by 33 percent to $40 billion last year, while experts estimate that the country will surpass the US to become the world’s largest luxury market by 2020. http://www.businessoffashion.com/
