Mekkanika is a typeface inspired by old mechanics technical drawings, the steampunk visual world, and modern machinery, mixed and merged all together to form letters completely made by these elements, creating a mechanical look like typeface. All based on the letter shapes of the Din Alternate Black font. And it's the direct sequel to an old work of mine, THE MATRIX STEAM . Hope you like this project, for first you will see a full gallery of posters showing each letter's design, then some animations and a series of posters inspired by this mechanical style.

The idea of this project is to do a new experimental design everyday for one year. I decided to start this project to keep myself inspired and motivated to keep thinking and moving forward. It has proven rather tough to discipline myself to do a design a day, especially if I don't have the time.As you will see certain themes began to develop, for example: on Mondays, I do a new logo or mark & Tuesdays is infographic style and so forth. I will be updating this project monthly for a year.

As a reaction to the success of the 2009 Guimarães Jazz posters, we tried a completely different graphical and conceptual approach for the 2010 edition. We based the graphical decision on the idea that Jazz could be colorful and fun, still maintaining audacity and sensuality. As the starting conceptual idea we thought about a story of seduction. Where you may see personages, you can also see instruments a dialogue between different sounds, harmonies and personalities. To achieve this final result we counted with the collaboration of two talented illustrat or s: Nebojsa Cvetkovic (c haracters) and Ana Rita Goulão ( l ettering).
