Designers Allison Bloom (a Remodelista veteran) of Dehn Bloom Design and Tinsley Hutson-Wiley took on the task of refurbishing a butler pantry at this year's San Francisco Decorator Showcase. N.B. Milan 2012: Hackney designers were busy in Milan last week and we're bringing you some of the best new product launches, including this shelf by Stoke Newington duo Raw Edges where the front slides down to create a work surface.
Shown at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile for Dutch brand Arco, Deskbox can be fixed to a wall and acts as a shelf and container when closed. A pencil can be left standing in a tiny round hole in the top surface to signal that there is more to the simple form than meets the eye. A parallel mechanism, similar to that used in compartmentalised sewing boxes allows the front section to hinge down and provide a flat surface for working on.

According to the brothers, natural colors, shades and materials can be as aesthetic as bold and shiny colors. Reflective materials, reds and variation of colors, like the flag colors of their native country, green and yellow have impact on their work.
