Google London Headquarters by Penson

The company seems to outdo itself with each new office they open or redesign. We recently took a look at the clean and contemporary YouTube Office in Beverly Hills, and now we venture overseas to the Google London Headquarters. Residing in the Renzo Piano-designed Central St. Giles Building in Covent Garden, this space was designed by the team at Penson. Of course with Google you can expect plenty of bells and whistles including indoor and outdoor gym, cafe, dance studio, and even a 200 person event room. A Contemporary Kitchen in Australia by Darren James. Brisbane-based interior design studio, Interiors by Darren James, has completed a contemporary kitchen design for an Australian home.

A Contemporary Kitchen in Australia by Darren James

The goal was to create a streamlined, high quality kitchen that was equally welcoming for a passionate home chef. A Contemporary Kitchen in Australia by Darren James: Precision, attention to detail and an appreciation for the finer things in life are qualities often associated with the German culture. So when the German owners engaged Interiors by Darren James to design and build their dream kitchen they wanted premium quality in every detail: design, materials, workmanship and finish.

This project clearly demonstrates what is possible when you combine good design, the latest technical mechanisms, quality materials and handcraft production techniques – a project that exceeds every expectation. Whilst the clients requested an ultramodern design they still wanted it to suit their Australian lifestyle. Practical Island Bench that packs a punch…. Manchester Square Offices. Sultana, principal of Sarasota-based studio DSDG Inc. Architects has sent us photos of the Picture Frame House. Built by Voigt Brothers Construction, this 6,400 square foot contemporary home is located in Sarasota, a city on the southwestern coast of Florida, USA. Picture Frame House by DSDG Inc. “The concept began with creating an international style modern residence taking full advantage of the 360 degree views of Sarasota downtown, the Gulf of Mexico, Sarasota Bay and New Pass. This 6,400 square foot residence is designed around a central courtyard which connects the garage and guest house in the front, to the main house in the rear via fire bowl and lap pool lined walkway on the first level and bridge on the second level.

The façade of the residence is made up of a series of picture frames that frame the architecture and the floor to ceiling glass throughout. Photos by: Detlev von Kessel Source: DSDG Architects. MO House by LVS Architecture and JC NAME Arquitectos: “The project for the MO House responds to a typical architectural program without being conventional. This proposal for a residence is conceptualized in an unique way. It is based on a pragmatic parameter and far from social rules or conventions.

It is a project that responds to change, to new materials and shapes, for breaking canons established and contextual removal from the zone. Travertine Dream House by Wallflower Architecture + Design. Travertine Dream House by Wallflower Architecture + Design

Completed in 2011, this three story contemporary home is located in Serangoon, a town situated in the central part of the city-state of Singapore. Travertine Dream House by Wallflower Architecture + Design: “The client’s brief for this house was simple. Functionally, to maximize usable area and to incorporate greenery.

The house is organised as two parallel blocks connected by a glass enclosed bridge. To accommodate as much green and ‘blue’ space as possible, the gardens and water bodies are spread throughout the house. The arrival experience is orchestrated by several layers of travertine wall that suggest a tenuous threshold between the outside and the inside. The three dimensional composition of voids, layers and solids creates spaces for both quiet reflection and family interaction, something for each mood and moment.”

This glass skin is punctured by a steel bridge that leads into the main room, twisted on axis to true north and on axis back to the central city of Melbourne. Perched on the Pacific Rim with the steadily advancing USA cultural juggernaut on one side and the near East of Japanese exotic and ancient culture on the other.
