Easy Little Pandas

And they’re mini, too. It’s hard to tell in this picture I know. But because the cupcakes were mini, I was able to use chocolate chips to dress them up as sweet little pandas. Chocolate chip covered pandas that are super easy to make. First frost your cupcakes. Pipe a small mound of frosting on top. Because you will be pressing it into a bowl of sanding sugar to cover all the frosting. Like so. Then you can start making panda faces. Insert a chocolate chip sideways and towards the bottom for a nose. Then press two chips pointed side down into the frosting to start on the eyes and two more in position for the ears.

I used Ghiradelli dark chocolate chips because they are a little larger in diameter and were better for panda proportions. The answer is here, and is very simple, all you need to do is to follow a few steps. I found this recipe on cookpad.com, but the instructions is in Japanese. I learned a little Japanese when I practiced kung fu, but wasn’t helpful to translate this recipe. You will need: Chocolate chips (the less tasty, more waxy melting chocolate from the bulk bin is best) in your choice of colour.A ziploc freezer bag.Parchment paper.8 1/2″ x 11″ (or thereabouts) card stock. Prep: Fold your card stock lengthwise down the centre. Making the butterflies: Heat a bowl of water in the microwave for about two minutes – long enough to get the water hot but not boiling. Squeeze all the chocolate into one corner of the bag, and, holding it like a pastry bag, snip off the corner.

You can probably get about three 2 1/2″ butterflies on one page of parchment paper. Source: Everything Old. Sparrow Shape Croissants. Reindeer Christmas Cupcakes. Panda Bread - Idea For The Kitchen.
