The head of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons voiced concern about the security of Syria's presumed chemical arsenal amid continued conflict in the nation, Reuters reported on Thursday (see GSN , April 16). Syria is believed to hold significant amounts of nerve and blister agents that could be delivered by missiles. The uprising against the Assad regime has elevated fears that Damascus might use the materials against its enemies or prove unable to maintain oversight of its chemical stockpiles.

Hundreds of emails from Syrian President Bashar Assad's office were leaked on Monday after an attack by the hacker group Anonymous. One of the email files, which Haaretz has obtained, was a document preparing Assad for his December 2011 interview with ABC's Barbara Walters . The attack took place overnight Sunday and the target was the mail server of the Syrian Ministry of Presidential Affairs.
