L7 (band) L7 were an American rock band from Los Angeles. They were active from 1985 to 2001.[1] Due to their sound and image, they are often associated with the grunge movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s.[2] L7 influenced many of the riot grrrl bands of the 1990s. Their 1992 third album Bricks Are Heavy, produced by Butch Vig, was featured in Rolling Stone's May 1999 list of 'Essential recordings of the 1990s', and was their most successful release.[3] L7's fourth album, Hungry for Stink, was released in July 1994 and coincided with the Lollapalooza tour, on which they shared the stage with other successful acts of the era including The Smashing Pumpkins and The Breeders. During their performance at the 1992 Reading Festival, the band experienced "technical difficulties with their audio equipment" and were forced to stall their set. The rowdy crowd grew restless and began throwing mud onto the stage. In 1999, the band raffled a one-night stand with Demetra Plakas at a London gig.[12]

She is best known for her work as the original bass player of the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. Biography[edit] Early life[edit] Wretzky was born and raised in South Haven, Michigan, where her mother, a musician working as a lounge singer,[1] encouraged D'arcy and her sisters to perform music. The Smashing Pumpkins[edit] After a concert at a local rock club, Wretzky overheard Billy Corgan criticizing the band that had performed.

Other musical work[edit] Post-Smashing Pumpkins[edit] Wretzky did not participate in the Smashing Pumpkins' reunion. Wretzky was jailed in February 2011 for missing four court dates related to a ticket she received for failing to control her horses.[17] She spent six days in jail.[18] She was also arrested on February 7, 2011, on a misdemeanor drunken-driving charge in South Haven, Michigan.[19] References[edit] External links[edit] Tairrie B. Tairrie B (born Theresa Beth, January 18, 1965,[citation needed] Anaheim, California) is an American singer. She was originally a rapper, but later became an alternative metal vocalist. Tairrie B started her music career as part of the female dance group Bardeux. After the release of their debut single, "Three-Time Lover", in 1987, she left the group.

Under the tutelage of Eazy-E, she was later signed to his label Ruthless Records (under a new imprint called Comptown Records) and released her first album, The Power Of A Woman, which, unlike usual Ruthless fare, was distributed by MCA Records.[1] Tairrie B claimed she was assaulted by Dr. Dre at the 1990 Grammy Awards for not collaborating with him on her first album: "Everyone with NWA - like Above The Law and The D.O.C. - whenever they do an album, all of the guys appear on the last track. She refused, and rewrote the track as a diatribe against her labelmates. Discography[edit] References[edit] External links[edit] Tura Satana (band) Tura Satana was an alternative metal band named after cult actress Tura Satana. The band started in the early 90s under the name Manhole. Due to legal reasons they changed it after the release of their first album 'All Is Not Well'.

While the music was brutal and powerful, the lyrics of the first album were strongly influenced by singer Tairrie B's hardships as a woman having dealt with a dysfunctional family and violence. After they disbanded, Tairrie B went on to form My Ruin and Brian Harrah went on to play in Professional Murder Music and subsequently The Mercy Clinic which featured Pat Lachman, former vocalist for Damage Plan. History[edit] After playing more shows and demoing new material in the first half of 1996, Elastica entered the studio in the later part of the year to begin work on their second album. By late 1998 Matthews had left the band. She was replaced by guitarist Paul Jones and keyboardist Sharon Mew. Also around this time Chipperfield was replaced with a returning Annie Holland.[2] As a tribute to the "lost years" of the band, a self-titled six-track EP appeared in August 1999, collecting a variety of recordings from a multitude of aborted sessions.

This EP marked the first new material from the band in over four years. After re-recording most of these songs in mid-1999, along with new compositions, the band played their first set of shows in years.
