La toute dernière version de Zotero, la 3.0 , vient de sortir et c'est pour nous l'occasion de présenter très brièvement les principaux changements : 1. Stand-alone Zotero est maintenant également disponible comme application autonome sous Windows, Mac et Linux, indépendante du navigateur Firefox. Cela permet de l'utiliser avec d'autres navigateurs, pour l'instant Chrome/Chromium et Safari à l'aide de "connecteurs" qu'il faut installer à part. Après six mois de test, je peux pour ma part dire que je préfère travailler sur la version stand-alone avec Chromium sur mon netbook peu puissant sauf dans des situations où je dois saisir beaucoup de références, par exemple à partir d'une bibliographie imprimée, et qu'il est donc pratique d'avoir Zotero ouvert dans la moitié basse de la fenêtre de Firefox pour vérifier tout de suite si les informations sont complètes.

The rapidly growing archive of early modern texts online presents significant new opportunities and necessities for the ways in which we organize it. Addressing such challenges raises important questions for both skeptics and boosters: Are new methods of organization resulting in virtual but less reliable finding aids? Do pressures of modernization encourage resource-strapped organizers of early modern texts to adopt whatever technologies are easiest? Are we really taking advantage of new archival possibilities? modern information overload As we all know, information overload is not new.Today and tomorrow I’m at THATCamp Switzerland , fulfilling a promise I made a year ago in Basel when one of the chief organizers, Enrico Natale of the University of Lausanne asked me, “If we can realize a THATCamp Switzerland, will you come?” I said yes, and so here I am. As of this morning, 106 people are registered from 10 different countries. Because we’re in Switzerland, the languages of the conference are French, German, and Italian, but English is the common language, so it is the one we’ll be using most often (to my relief). My main job is to introduce the basic principles of THATCamp, which I’ll discharge during the first morning’s session. This means that I get to spend the rest of the two days just participating in sessions, which means I get to learn a lot while I’m here.
