How to Embroider - Hand Embroidery for Beginners. Read our beginner instructions; then follow the picture instructions to learn how to make different embroidery stitches and stitch this beginner level embroidery design that you can use to embellish pillowcases, table linens, or other cloth items. The supplies explained: Fabrics: You can embroider on all kinds of fabrics, however, as a beginner you will want to do your stitching on basic cotton, cotton blend, muslin, or linen fabrics. They are the easiest to work with. Often pillowcases, table runners, fabric placemats and similar items can be good to start on.Hoop: The wood embroidery hoop will keep your fabric tight while you do your stitching. If your fabric is not tight and flat, your stitches will pull closer together than they should and make your fabric and finished design all puckered and wrinkled up.Needle: There are many different needles available for lots of different uses.

Before you begin, wash and dry the fabric you will be using. Separate the hoop into two pieces. Pleated Bow Pillowcase Dress Tutorial. This was one of those projects where I had an idea in my mind and I just went with it. Then as I started sewing, I realized that I probably should have thought it out more thoroughly. But it worked out in the end and the results turned out be to better than the image in my mind. So awesome! I made this for Elle who is 17 months.

I found this pillowcase at the thrift store and loved the pattern. I bought it for $1. This pillowcase was a regular size, not the king size like I used for the Retro Ruffle Pillowcase Dress. And like the Retro Ruffle Pillowcase Dress, I did the ribbon-button closure in the back. Side bow sweater dress {an easy upcycle} Meg Ruth Wedding Photographers Las Vegas Blog: How To: DIY Pendant Lights. NOTICE: The video is working again! Moving into a new house is expensive, not just because we bought it but because of all the stuff we have to get for it. I'd been pining for a few pendant lamps for a while but with a budget of almost nothing and needing three lights, a $200/light purchase was not going to work.

I found a sweet light idea in Do It Yourself Magazine by Better Homes and Gardens. My mom forked over her Mason Ball Jars in blue and Sir Luke and I got to work. Watch the How To: Video to learn how to make your own and install them! Just a reminder Sir Luke is an electrician so please hire one if you want to do the second half of the tutorial. HOW TO: DIY Pendant Lights from megruth on Vimeo . Vintage Pulley Chandelier. Lighting | Patrick Townsend. Absolutely Gorgeous DIY Aqua Chandelier.

This chandelier isn’t the first DIY chandelier made with using Mason jars but it probably the most gorgeous one. Even though for this project you’ll need to find some old chandelier the result is much more cooler than a Mason jar chandelier made with several things from IKEA and an diy outdoor chandelier with Mason jars in a basket. If you’ve managed to find a beautiful vintage chandelier to work with then drill several vintage Mason jars to screw them to the bobeches. Besides you’ll need to find several aqua crystals to decorate the chandelier and aqua glass paint to paint the chandelier and Mason jars.

After these things are done just put tea lights inside the jars and hang the gorgeous chandelier anywhere you want. I think it will work especially great as patio mood light. Add some aesthetic and a splash of color and you’ve got hacker heroes at Castor, a Canadian multidisciplinary design firm. The result is the DeadStock collection (featured in coming 3 pics) in which old industrial parts are integrated in new contemporary and really great looking lamp designs, proving their hacker mastery… DeadStock ”Catherine” Lamp DeadStock FloorLamp DeadStock ”Cannonball” pendant. Clear Heart Full Eyes Can’t Lose. I took some major inspiration from a certain Luella dress and all things Valentine-y to come up with this top.

It’s quite similar to those heart cut-out dresses that have been seen all over, but this is way easier to make than a dress! And a bit more wearable, too, seeing as how it’s just a shirt, and you can pair it and wear it with just about anything. Oh, and there are pretty lace frills involved, too! What’s not to love? Stuff you’re gonna need (you can get most of this stuff at JoAnn or Michaels or your local craft-supply store): a well-fitting button-up shirt chalk lace trim (about half a yard or less should cover it) a hook-and-eye fastener sewing pins fray checkscissors measuring tape (I actually ended up not using this—but it’s always nice to have on hand) a small heart-shaped item to use as a pattern (this would be a good way to get some use out of an empty Valentine’s chocolate box) a sewing machine or just a needle and thread, whichever is your preferred sewing method 1. 2. DIY: Skull Cut Out T-Shirt Tutorial. Lined Paper Tee by Maybe Matilda.

I’m pretty dang excited to be guest posting on U Create, of all places, with an easy and fun project for you. Just in time for heading back to school, I came up with this cute top: My name is Rachel, and I blog over Maybe Matilda. I’m from small-town New York, currently living in Utah with my soon-to-be-chiropractor husband and our soon-to-be-one-year-old son. When I’m not sweeping up Cheerios, I love sewing and crocheting for my etsy shop, and sharing what I make on my blog. I think this lined paper tee is such a fun way to bring out the inner student, and possibly even encourage a little bookishness in a little one (maybe that’s a stretch, but a girl can hope, right?). It’s really simple to put together, and you can easily make it in any size.

Here’s what you’ll need to make this tee: a white tank, tee, or onesie masking tape foam brush blue and red acrylic paint fabric painting medium (available at craft stores–you’ll find it with the paint supplies) Valentine's Nightie How-to, Threadbanger Projects. How To: Shred a T-shirt. Sweetheart Ballet Tee Tutorial. Here’s yet another way to spice up your t-shirts when you get a little bored with the plainness of them all. I did this a few weeks ago to two of my plain tees. I’m threatening to do this on all of the t-shirts I own. Seriously. Watch out!

This little ruching technique takes literally 2 minutes; the perfect way to jazz up an outfit on your way out the door. Here we go: Materials: Fitted Tee Sewing Machine Coordinating thread Elastic thread Scissors Magic Erase Fabric Pen (not pictured) Cut the collar off: only cut a little around the back & cut more around the front to make a deeper neckline. They're soft, comfortable, and have good worn (and sentimental) designs on them. But, I never wear them for anything other than around the house because they are large men's t-shirts and look completely shapeless on me. Then I found this great tutorial on YouTube for how to make a big t-shirt a fitted shirt! - T-Shirt Surgery: How to Make a Shirt Fit So, while I was staying with my mom at her camper this summer (she lives & travels in an RV), I asked her to help me try it out. So yes...we broke out the sewing machine next to the campfire. First, a before & after look at the t-shirt we did. So, here's how it's done. Start with a t-shirt you love that's just too big Turn the shirt inside out and lay a shirt that DOES fit you on top of it, lining up the collars so that you can be sure it is centered over your large t-shirt.
