Scientists will build 'human brain': Supercomputer will simulate the mind exactly and will help fight against brain diseases. The 'brain' will take 12 years to buildIt will feature thousands of three-dimensional images built around a semi-circular 'cockpit' By Tamara Cohen Published: 18:27 GMT, 15 April 2012 | Updated: 19:14 GMT, 15 April 2012 The human brain’s power could rival any machine.
And now scientists are trying to build one using the world’s most powerful computer. It is intended to combine all the information so far uncovered about its mysterious workings - and replicate them on a screen, right down to the level of individual cells and molecules. If it works it could be revolutionary for understanding devastating neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and even shedding light into how we think, and make decisions. Ambitious: Scientists are hoping to build a computer that will simulate the entire human brain They hope to complete it within 12 years.
‘Simulating it will make it much easier – allowing them to manipulate and measure any aspect of the brain.’ Graphic: Corbis. Webcam in Taichung, Taiwan. Chupacabras - Paranormal creature. The vampiric animal referred to as ‘Goatsucker’. It apparently still inhabits an island near Puerto Rico. There are many descriptions of what it looked like. Some say that it was a lizard with dorsal fin 3 -4ft long and a forked tongue; other report it as having bat like wings and black hair and red eyes; others state that it can walk on all fours but also stand upright.
Some say that it hops like kangaroo has a long snout and long teeth and has grey fur but by contrast others have said that it is a hairless dog. The first report of an attack of the Chupacabra was in 1995 in Puerto Rico but since then it has been sighted in Chile The Philippines and Russia. Similar attacks happened in 1975 in a small town of Moca although many state that these attacks were committed by a satanic cult.
The mangy Chupacabra was spotted near Elmendorf, Texas in 2005. A most recent attack happened in July 2010 as a Chupacabra was found dead. Scientists Discover The Oldest, Largest Body Of Water In Existence--In Space. Scientists have found the biggest and oldest reservoir of water ever--so large and so old, it’s almost impossible to describe. The water is out in space, a place we used to think of as desolate and desert dry, but it's turning out to be pretty lush.
Researchers found a lake of water so large that it could provide each person on Earth an entire planet’s worth of water--20,000 times over. Yes, so much water out there in space that it could supply each one of us all the water on Earth--Niagara Falls, the Pacific Ocean, the polar ice caps, the puddle in the bottom of the canoe you forgot to flip over--20,000 times over. The water is in a cloud around a huge black hole that is in the process of sucking in matter and spraying out energy (such an active black hole is called a quasar), and the waves of energy the black hole releases make water by literally knocking hydrogen and oxygen atoms together. The new cloud of water is enough to supply 28 galaxies with water. Half-Floating Home: Semi-Submerged Two-Story Houseboat. On the surface, it is just another modest minimalist houseboat with a sleek modern profile, floor-to-ceiling windows and a simple box-like form. But that is only half of its story (or rather, the top of two stories).
While the living, dining and kitchen areas hover above the waterline, the bedroom, bathroom and other more private spaces are submerged below. The solution is really quite elegant and functional. On the exterior portion of the lot: leave the lawn flat and trimmed on one side to match the open expanse of water on the other. Within the building space: create three levels – the bottom as a retreat, the middle as a welcoming main floor and the top a relatively bare rooftop deck for enjoying the outdoors. Designed (unsurprisingly) by a Dutch firm, WaterStudio, this represents another potential direction for architecture in an area of the world long subjected to changing water levels. 2012 March 12 - The Scale of the Universe Interactive.
