ANALYSTE PROGRAMMEUR H/F | Antilles-Emploi. An Inside View of Dominica. This weekend I had the opportunity to interview Anna McCanse - a Peace Corps Volunteer who served for two years on the island of Dominica. Since returning to the US, she's been writing an in-depth guide book about Dominica and was happy to share a little about her experience with us: LAURA: When did you first visit Dominica and how long did you stay? ANNA: I first stepped foot on Dominica as a Peace Corps Volunteer in 2006 and worked as an education volunteer in the village of Grand Bay for two years. Because the island is relatively small and I was there for so long I was able to really spend time and get to know all the different areas of the island, especially the Carib Territory which is one of my all-time favorite places in the world.

I went back again in 2010 to do research for the book and it was just as charming the second time around. LAURA: The Peace Corp is an amazing organization – were you able to choose Dominica? ANNA: I didn’t get to choose where I was placed. Enjoy, Dominica Entertainment Television - Official Website. Dominica News Online. Dominica: the complete guide to our beautiful Caribbean island.

I recently visited the world-famous Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden again, one of the best in the world. The Garden is extremely interesting in its own right - tropical forest, desert vegetation, lots of tropical fruit trees, and an abundance of palm varieties; but it also illustrates what a top flight Botanic Garden, and more particularly a tropical one, can be; and what it can do for a community in terms of jobs and image. The Fairchild Garden is one of the primary attractions for visitors to south Florida.

The Garden is located on 83 acres of generally shallow, alkaline, and sandy soil near Coral Gables, just south Miami, Florida. The rainfall is about 55 inches and the natural vegetation is high pine forest. I took a Tram tour to get an overview, and then walked through the Garden to visit the highlights. It was an unforgettable horticultural and aesthetic experience. In the tropical fruit section, there were numerous species of tropical fruit trees. The World Creole Music Festival Official Website. Hidden Caribbean: Why Dominica is an island apart | Travel | The. The black-blue sky is studded with flickering pinpricks of light. High above, I can make out a fragile sliver of moon and the starry cloudiness of the Milky Way. Tall trees stretch upwards into the night, their leaves woven into a dense mesh of shadowy green.

There is the sound of running water from the river down below and a constant chirruping of crickets. The air smells thickly of cinnamon. I undress as instructed, shivering briefly in the coolness before sinking into the warm water. And, it must be said, wet. The garden is the life's work of Anne Jno.
