Though she is yet to finalise on specialisation, she knows that the road ahead will be tough. “I know it will be difficult and I will have to work hard for it, but I am willing to do it.” While being a good student academically, she is also interested in extracurricular activities.

Vidhi enjoys school because here she gets to learn new things. Vidhi’s father works in a mall, while her mother works as a house help. Vidhi echoed the thoughts of the parents when she said, “Nobody will like if Akshaya Patra stops providing meals to our school, because then, we will have to get our lunchbox from home and that will be difficult for most of us.”

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is happy to bring back its celebrated annual photography contest – Click A Smile! Open to photography enthusiasts – amateur and professional – across the world, the Foundation invites beautiful photographs that capture the joy and innocence of smiling children from all the corners of the globe. The competition, which saw 1,700 entries from 80 countries last year, is sure to be a bigger success in 2016, as it grows with enthusiastic participation every successive year.

This day, known as Kannada Rajyotsava, symbolises the birth of Karnataka. In other words, it was the day Karnataka was formed back in 1956. So, how did this occasion come to be? Here’s a quick look at this historic day and what it is all about. On November 1, 1956, all the Kannada-speaking states of southern India were amalgamated to form a new state. Kannada Rajyotsava is celebrated with much gusto across the state. On this day, the State Government confers the Rajyotsava Award upon eminent citizens, who have adorned Karnataka with the jewels of their noteworthy achievements; Akshaya Patra’s Chairman, Shri Madhu Pandit Dasa, received Rajyotsava Award in the year 2003. The award was presented during the 1st Edition of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Summit on ‘Innovation in Governance’ held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Shri Bharatarshabha Dasa, Director - Relationships of Akshaya Patra was present at the occasion to receive the award – established in the memory of 11th President of India – Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The award was handed out by Mr Alok Ranjan, Chairperson of Kalam Centre and Former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh.

Akshaya Patra Latest Event-Meal Delivery Van Donated to Jaipur Kitchen. A meal delivery van was donated to the Jaipur kitchen at an Installation Ceremony organised by Rotary Club on July 9, 2015. J.K Baid, Vice Chairman of Poly Medicure Ltd, donated the vehicle to Akshaya Patra. In attendance was Chief Guest J.K Ranka, Justice at the Rajasthan High Court and other dignitaries from the Rotary society. Both J.K Baid and J.K Ranka presented a plaque to Vraj Raj Krishna Dasa and Ragupathi Das,Programme Coordinators at Akshaya Patra, Jaipur which was followed by a flagging off ceremony. The meal delivery van has been customised with a honeycomb structure to prevent food from spilling and insulated to keep meals warm. The van will transport food to 24 schools in the region and feed over 1,500 students.
