Anyway, they finally arrived and although the corner metal brackets were badly bent on one shelf, they seemed to bend back into shape somewhat easily. Assembly was a bit of a hassle: the shelves were mislabeled with number stickers so when I started using the stickers as guidelines I had to unassemble what I started because the directions clearly stated that the locking wheels should be on the same side of the shelf.
Also, the little wrench that came with the shelf barely grabbed the nut so I had to use my own tools to get them to work. I also had a LOT of trouble lining up the pre-drilled holes with the frame. Was looking for a clean lined & understated console table to work as a media stand. This is better quality than a mass reproduction one would find on O********.com and comparable in looks to something one could spend a paycheck on at R********** H*******. The box was heavy, every thing well packaged, and easy to unpack.The weight of the pieces impressed me, and assembly just by myself, was easy enough. The trick to it was not tightening all of the bolts until every leg and bolt was put in place for the top, and then the bottom.
The people that wrote the reviews about it being wobbly probably don't understand how to properly fasten a nut onto a spring washer. You don't just stop once it's tight, you need to go a couple more quarter turns to engage the spring. That makes it solid. The only down side? Thank you, World Market. Yes, I recommend this product. Primary reasons why I bought this coffee table: 1) appearance; 2) size; 3) price; 4) mobility; 5) durability; 6) quality. This table fits all of these criteria. Finding a coffee table that is not too big was an issue because we have a small living room and most coffee tables are massive, but this one is a perfect size for our living room without overwhelming it.
Our decor is vintage/informal traditional/comfortable/eclectic and I wasn't sure about adding the industrial-style to mix, but it fits in with the decor really well, and actually complements it nicely. Durability is an issue because we have young children, and although this would not withstand a ton of rough play and banging (what furniture would?) , I feel confident that it will withstand the amount of activity my children do around the living room; therefore, this coffee table will be a short-term use piece (about 5-10 years) until the children are older, when we'll buy something to better suit our needs then.
