Monochroma.Chic ... {a Toronto-based personal style blog} ... The Dream Closet: My Style. High Gloss Magazine: April/May 2011. Design Darling: 101 in 1001. So far my New York City Guide has consisted entirely of brunch spots (most of which are just as good for lunch, dinner, etc.). Now I love brunch as much as the next girl (read: a lot) but I'm pretty excited to have more daylight hours in which to photograph my favorite spots for cocktails, dinner, and dessert throughout the spring and summer. Totally worth the lost hour of sleep, right? Right. But today I'm switching gears entirely and sharing a must for any proper NYC guide: Broadway! My sister Reilly studied theater in college so our family has always loved musicals and plays — and I'm no exception. My boyfriend's parents gave us tickets to Beautiful for Christmas and neither one of us was sure what to expect.

Recommended for: bringing your parents (you'll love it as much as they do) One boyfriend, two Broadway shows in one month. Recommended for: girlfriends, siblings, and significant others (probably not your adorably conservative grandparents!) Next on my list? Interested in Guest blogging? I thought I would take the time and ask all you lovely readers and browsers of this blog if you or anyone you may know would be interested in contributing to the "Beauty Bag" series. I've had such great success with some uber fabulous and stylish bloggers sharing their beauty finds and secrets with us here, and I've received great feedback from readers telling me about how much they appreciate all the recommendations and tips they read in the "beauty bag" series! This makes me so happy!! I love utilizing this blog as a way for all us girls to come together and share with each other and help each other out.

So this leads me to my main point, since the new year there have been a lack of posts for this great series. Looking forward to hearing from you girls!! What I Wore · What I Wore: Block This! Indie Business Launch Day - Freckled Nest. Indie Business is a 6 week creative business workshop I co-created and teach with Jill of Lune Vintage and a featured teacher (this year, the lovely Lisa Leonard). Its wrap up was just this past Friday - and it was a lot of fun, and a great success. We are already in pre-planning for next year's Indie Business 4.0! If you'd like to check out this workshop which has just finished it's 3rd year, visit the website at To celebrate the completion of the workshop - the student led group from the workshop's student lounge has formed to create Indie Biz 3.0 Launch Day! The enthusiasm and drive of this group of creative new business owners is so inspiring. I hope you'll check out the organized collection of Giveaways, New Shop Launches, Blogs, Sales and Blog Parties curated by 3.0 alumni Louana of Eleventh Monkey. Grab a cup of coffee, and find something (or someone) new while supporting creative independent business on Launch Day!

A Handmade Giveaway. Guest Blogger - KEIRA. Hi! Keira here, from a pretty penny. While Jamie's away, she's asked me to pop over and talk to you guys about finding unique and creative sources of inspiration for your everyday style {that's so Jamie, right? That's why we love her}. I'm a burgeoning florist by day, and I'm constantly inspired by the gorgeous colors and textures of the flower arrangements that come out of my shop.

I thought it would be fun to do a Jamie-style post using one such arrangement as inspiration! The Inspiration: Here's how I did it: I love the easy, organic style of this hydrangea bouquet in a willow planter.
