And it’s true, reading a pattern can be scary… but well worth learning how! Once you can read a pattern, you’ll be able to make anything! How to Make the Magic Loop. The magic loop, or ring method, is used for beginning a crochet project worked in rounds and produces a small neatly closed hole in the center of the first round.
This method can be used for beginning hats, doilies, amigurumi and other projects worked in rounds. Instructions might say, “ch 5, join with sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 1, 8 sc in ring.”
