I always assumed I had insomnia until last year when I heard about a circadian rhythm disorder called delayed sleep phase syndrome. DSPS is a disorder where people's body clocks are unaligned with what's considered normal social hours, and it's natural for people with DSPS to go to sleep after 2am and wake well into the morning or early afternoon.

It's pretty normal for teenagers of course, but people with DSPS often have that sleeping pattern even as children and it continues into adulthood.
