Click to view Whoa, the iPhone just got GPS. Well, it's actually using peer-collected GPS data linked to cellular tower, which Navizon describes as peer to peer location detection. Either way — it actually works. This morning, the Navizon GPS app showed up in Installer.app. After creating a username and login (get this: email NOT required), the app started up, taking about 30 seconds to find my location accurate within a few hundred feet — good enough to use as a starting point for driving directions. http://gizmodo.com/301459/iphone-faux+gps-hack-works-and-is-awesome

http://greatiphoneapps.blogspot.com/ Amazing new set of applications has come out from the Lonely Planet. These programs don't include places to see, or cheap lodging, but instead include a vast array of commonly used words and phrases. I downloaded the free Mandarin Chinese Application from the itunes App store, and I was absolutely blown away. A list of commonly used travel phrases were displayed. As I navigated through them, I was shown the correct spelling, and the word is actually spoken! This would be a great way to bridge the language barrier, and to help you learn to pronounce foriegn languages at a moments notice.
