An official with the Iowa State Patrol told KCCI that federal officers, including FBI agents, went to the home of an Eagle Grove police officer to serve a federal warrant Tuesday morning. City Administrator Mike Boyd told the The Eagle Grove Eagle newspaper that Officer Jon Bailey has been placed on administrative leave as of Tuesday.

The agreement is part of a guilty plea Kevin Sims, 36, made to a federal misdemeanor charge Friday in U.S. District Court. He admitted that while he was on duty as a police officer, he intentionally denied a citizen of rights provided by the Constitution when they had consensual sexual relations following a traffic stop. Sims admitted he was a patrol officer in spring 2004 when he stopped at a bar about 1 a.m. to conduct a bar check. A half-hour after Sims conducted the bar check, he used the emergency lights on his police car to stop the woman as she drove down Center Point Road.

When Sims approached the woman, she told him she had a suspended license. At the park Sims and the woman had intimate relations while Sims was still on duty, in his police uniform with his firearm still in his holster. Accidents pile up for Cedar Rapids police. One of the accidents happened around 11 A.M. Tuesday when officer Ron Faas was in the process of investigating an accident. While he was in his squad car with the emergency lights on, another vehicle went out of control and struck the rear of officer Faas’ car. The other driver, 52-year-old Elaine Minor of Cedar Rapids, was not hurt. Officer Faas was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital, treated and released. It started at 11 p.m. and lasted several hours in the 4600 block of 6th Street. Police say they stopped and inspected 53 vehicles. They made 2 operating while intoxicated arrests, 1 possesion of a controlled substance arrest and another arrest for possesion of drug paraphernalia. They also issued several tickets for insurance, no driver's license and seat belt violations. Along with numerous warnings for equipment and registration violations. A grant from the Iowa Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau funded the extra enforcement officers to look for intoxicated drivers and other violations. Shortly after 10 p.m., officials responded to a disturbance at 33rd Avenue Sports Bar & Grill at 525 33rd Ave. SW involving 32-year-old Danielle A. Sloan and 37-year-old Levi Roberts. Sloan reportedly left the bar in an SUV, and Roberts took off on foot. Sometime before Sloan was pulled over in the 2700 block of Sixth Street SW, police said she picked up Roberts. Police arrested Roberts for intoxication. Authorities said Sloan resisted and struggled with officers while being placed under arrested. Sloan could face assault on a peace officer, operating while intoxicated and interference with official acts charges.
