Can You Solve These 55 Lego Riddles? Can You Solve These 55 Lego Riddles?

To commemorate the 55th anniversary of the LEGO brick, the company has issued 55 graphic riddles where LEGO bricks represent various characters from movies, songs, cultural or political highlights that occurred over the last 55 years. Some of them are a bit more obvious than the others, but constructing the right answer from the hints feels almost like a mental LEGO game. The plastic brick, that’s recognized all over the world today, was patented in its current shape on January 28th, 1958. With the production reaching 19 billion LEGO elements a year, around 400 million people around the world have played with it at least once in their life, and every year kids spend around 5 billion hours at it! Amazing Jellyfish Photos by Alexander Semenov. The story behind this photo series is almost as amazing as the jellyfish shots themselves, and comes from the deep waters of the White sea in Russia.

Cassini's continued mission - The Big Picture. NASA's Cassini spacecraft is now a nearly a year into its extended mission, called Cassini Equinox (after its initial 4-year mission ended in June, 2008).

The spacecraft continues to operate in good health, returning amazing images of Saturn, its ring system and moons, and providing new information and science on a regular basis. The mission's name, "Equinox" comes from the upcoming Saturnian equinox in August, 2009, when its equator (and rings) will point directly toward the Sun. The Equinox mission runs through September of 2010, with the possibility of further extensions beyond that. Collected here are 24 more intriguing images from our ringed neighbor. With seven million people, Hong Kong is the 4th most densely populated places in the world. However, plain numbers never tell the full story. In his ‘Architecture of Density’ photo series, German photographer Michael Wolf explores the jaw-dropping urban landscapes of Hong Kong. He rids his pictures of any context, such above or the earth below, and rarely includes people, either. The images are large scale flat captions of buildings which appear to be infinite and haunting. First prize winner in the World Press Photo competition in 2005 and 2010, Michael moved from Germany to Hong Kong back in 1994 and spent 8 years working for Stern Magazine as a contracted photographer.

Frighteningly Beautiful Shots of Volcanic Lightning by Martin Rietze. Germany-based photographer Martin Rietze gets himself into life-threatening situations to make some amazing shots of volcano eruptions with lighting. Surrounded by poisonous gas and bubbling lava, he photographed the Sakurajima volcano in Japan, and NASA chose his shot as the Astronomy Picture of the Day for March 11, 2013.

The winning shot was taken in January. Even though lightnings occur every 40 seconds somewhere around the world, even NASA is not entirely sure what causes lightning when the volcano erupts: “One hypothesis holds that catapulting magma bubbles or volcanic ash are themselves electrically charged, and by their motion create these separated areas.
