Does God really keep the devil on His payroll as the chief superintendent of hell, measuring out the punishment of the lost? Nearly the entire world holds to a very unbiblical view about hell, and you owe it to yourself to know what the Bible really says about it. Don’t be fooled—because what you think about hell affects what you think about God!

Lesson 10 Abraham knew that his nephew was making a big mistake when Lot chose to move his family to Sodom.

The cities of the lower Jordan valley were beautiful and lush, but they were also very corrupt. "The men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly. " Genesis 13:13. Finally, God decided to destroy these sinful cities for their abominations, but first He sent two angels to Sodom to rescue Lot and his family. Before entering Sodom, these angels took on the appearance of two wayfaring men. Lot saw the two handsome strangers when they first entered the gates, and knowing that the streets of that wicked city were far from safe at night, he urged them to find refuge in his home. Early the next morning, the angels told Lot and his family, "Escape for your life!

The Rich Man and Lazarus Much argument has taken place over whether the words of Jesus in Luke 16:19-31 were intended to be understood literally or as a parable. Some Christians feel that in this story, Jesus was offering His hearers a glimpse of what existence in the afterlife is like. Others, citing numerous passages of Scripture that seem to contradict the portrayal of heaven and hell contained in this passage, feel that Jesus was teaching an altogether different kind of lesson.

Unfortunately, many modern religious teachers have isolated the story from its original context and used it as a device for scaring people. Religious “conversions” resulting from a fear of hell as it is depicted in this passage have indeed occurred, but are based on a foundation sorely in need of the strength that comes only from a genuine appreciation of God’s character and a proper understanding of Scripture. Jesus recognized the value of parables in teaching the people. Who was the symbolic rich man?

The Rich Man and Lazarus | Here We Stand | Amazing Facts. Note:This is a verbatim transcript of the live broadcast. It is presented as spoken. Welcome once again friends to Here We Stand. This is a special series of meetings where we are going to be exploring some of the foundational teachings of Christianity that have been slowly eroding and in some respects totally lost sight of or been confused. Many of these are also -- well, I hope all of them are, the foundational teachings or some of the unique teachings found in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. And I’m inviting people to base their conclusions on what does the Bible say.

Now, our message tonight is called the Rich Man in Lazarus and it’s based on a parable that is only found one time in the Bible. If you’d like to turn in your Bibles to this parable, it’s in the Gospel of Luke. So it was that the beggar died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. Now that’s the parable. Secondly, it says that Lazarus died and he is carried to Abraham’s bosom. Let me see your hands. Hell-Fire: A Twisted Truth Untangled | Free Book Library | Amazing Facts. By Joe Crews Hell-Fire A Twisted Truth Untangled One of the most theologically confused subjects in the Bible is that of hell. It has been fumbled by the clergy and distorted by the laity until the word has become best known as a common vulgarism and expletive. Everywhere people are asking the same questions: What and where is hell? What is the fate of the wicked? Will a God of love torture people throughout eternity? These are questions which deserve sound Bible answers, and the controversy surrounding the subject should not discour- age us from exposing all the truth as it is in Christ.

In view of these two ultimate destinies for all who have ever been born, how earnest we should be in seeking to find the right way. Strangely enough, Christ has been charged by many religious leaders with teaching a falsehood on this subject. Now let's get a sample of what Jesus really taught on the subject of hell. The Truth About Hell & Hellfire Amazing - Facts Ministries. Moodle. The Rich Man and Lazarus: True Event or Fictitious Parable? By Edwin M. Cotto, Advent Defense League Adventism is in error when it claims that the dead remain in their graves until Jesus returns, because in the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus, Jesus demonstrated that the dead go to heaven or hell at death! This is an important claim by the critics in order to establish the idea that people go to heaven at death and that the wicked will burn in Hell forever.

On the other hand, if the story is a parable, it cannot be taken as a literal event since parables are fictitious narratives established to teach moral truths. The fact that it is a parable, however, can be proven in a number of ways. Consider also the fact that the story is in the midst of a series of parables (Luke 12:16, 13:6, 16:1, 19:11-12, 20:9) while beginning with the same “a certain man…” formula as those other ones. Thus the claim is false. THE STORY IS OBVIOUSLY FIGURATIVEThis is evident by the story itself. Youtube.
