Rhode Island School of the Future: Exhibit Categories. Chain Reaction Machine A Chain Reaction Machine uses natural forces, like gravity and elasticity, to make something happen. The chain is a series of simple devices like a pulley or some dominoes that knock into each other. The idea is to put together a few of these devices so that they go off one right after the other, like a chain reaction. Once you put the first one in motion, the rest of the machine should go by itself. Each team creates a contraption that sits on either half a table (30” x 3’) or a full table (30” x 6’). Chain reaction machines need to conform to the table space and be triggered left to right. Please use common sense when considering the safety of your contraption. You need to transport your Chain Reaction Machine, and you will have about 1 hour to set up your Chain Reaction Machine at the event. Machines are encouraged to tie into the Robotics Park theme, which will be released in January 2013.
