Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme at fta.co.uk

The Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme is a voluntary industry-led approach to reducing carbon emissions from road freight by recording and reporting reductions in CO² emissions. The scheme is free to join and open to all commercial vehicle operators. Without industry action, FTA is concerned that Government may regulate to reduce carbon emissions from freight.

The LCRS allows the UK logistics sector to publicly report, for the first time its contribution towards national carbon reduction targets. Since its launch in late 2009, the scheme has gone from strength to strength. In April 2011, the Department for Transport endorsed the LCRS as a key way for industry to record, report and reduce carbon emissions from freight. Scheme features How does it work? Home. GHG-TransPoRD - Reducing greenhouse-gas emissions of transport beyond 2020: linking R&D, transport policies and reduction targets was a research project co-financed by the European Commission under FP7.

Home

The project aimed at developing an integrated European strategy that links R&D efforts with other policies and measures to achieve substantial GHG emission reductions in transport that are in line with the overall targets of the EU. As part of this strategy, the project proposed GHG reduction targets for transport as a whole as well as for each transport mode for 2020 and 2050. The project backcast from existing GHG emission reduction targets set at the level of the overall economy to the contribution required from the transport sector. As a starting point GHG-TransPoRD described the European innovation system of the transport sector considering the global context as well. The GHG-TransPoRD project run over 27 months starting in October 2009 and was coordinated by Fraunhofer ISI. EU Transport GHG: Routes to 2050. Welcome to the website for the EU Transport GHG: Routes to 2050 project This website covers work undertaken as part of two projects funded by the European Commission: DG Climate Action, which aimed to, among other things, stimulate a debate about the actions that need to be taken in the medium- to long-term (particularly between 2020 and 2050) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector in the EU.

EU Transport GHG: Routes to 2050

The first EU Transport GHG: Routes to 2050? Project was completed in June 2010, however a new 15-month follow-on project started in January 2011 (dubbed EU Transport GHG: Routes to 2050 II), and was completed in July 2012. This second project was commissioned to build on the work carried out in the previous project to develop an enhanced understanding of the wider potential impacts of transport GHG reduction policies, as well as their possible significance in a critical path to GHG reductions to 2050. Sustainability strategies of leading companies include targets to dramatically reduce carbon dioxide emissions from their global logistics networks and increasingly, prioritize working with like-minded supply chain partners.

Working Groups

Can you measure, report, and improve your ocean transport and logistics environmental foot print? The Clean Cargo Working Group is a global business-to-business initiative made up of leading cargo carriers and their customers, dedicated to environmental performance improvement in marine container transport through measurement, evaluation, and reporting. Why Join? Join CCWG members in creating and using the practical tools for measuring, evaluating, and reporting the environmental impacts of global goods transportation. These tools and the dialogue between members and key stakeholders help: Ocean freight carriers track and benchmark their performance and easily report to customers in a standard format.
