Computer Science Degree Jobs
Methodology All data is limited to those with a Bachelor's degree and no higher degrees who work full-time in the United States. Jobs are listed in order of relative popularity amongst graduates with a Bachelor's degree in the given major from any college. Experienced Median Pay for each job title is for individuals with any major who have a typical amount of experience at that job. Salary is the sum of compensation from base salary, bonuses, profit sharing, commissions, and overtime, if applicable. Salary does not include equity (stock) compensation.Degrees and Schools Bachelor's degree programs in engineering are available at many colleges and universities, but programs that concentrate on electrical engineering are more difficult to find. A traditional four-year degree provides an introduction to engineering and a general foundation in the first 2 years, and focuses on electrical engineering in the last 2 years. Other types of engineering degree programs include: Four-year partnership program - Students complete 2 years of engineering and general courses at a community college or vocational school, then are automatically admitted into an engineering program at a partner college or university to earn their bachelor's degree. General engineering four-year program - Students spend all four years in general engineering and liberal arts courses; learning in specialty areas is accomplished in graduate school or on the job.

Engineers apply the principles of science and mathematics to develop economical solutions to technical problems. Their work is the link between scientific discoveries and the commercial applications that meet societal and consumer needs. Many engineers develop new products. During the process, they consider several factors. For example, in developing an industrial robot, engineers specify the functional requirements precisely; design and test the robot's components; integrate the components to produce the final design; and evaluate the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. This process applies to the development of many different products, such as chemicals, computers, powerplants, helicopters, and toys. The widespread and increasing use of computers and information technology has generated a need for highly trained, innovative workers with extensive theoretical expertise. These workers, called computer scientists, are the designers, creators, and inventors of new technology. By creating new technology, or finding alternative uses for existing resources, they solve complex business, scientific, and general computing problems.
