Rhizomatic learning DC's course jan.13. How to Get Credit for a MOOC - 2013's Online Colleges: Compare Cost, Degrees, Accreditation & more! Despite all the publicity surrounding massive open online courses (MOOCs), it seems that very few college students have actually taken advantage of the opportunity to enroll in extremely low-cost MOOCs and transfer their earned credit to their colleges.

Experiments in Mass Collaboration. One of the most innovative educational ideas of the last century, we propose, came from Paulo Friere, the Brazilian educational theorist and populist.

Experiments in Mass Collaboration

In his critique of “the banking model of education” in Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Freire writes, “Those who use the banking approach, knowingly or unknowingly (for there are innumerable well-intentioned bank-clerk teachers who do not realize that they are serving only to dehumanize), fail to perceive that the deposits themselves contain contradictions about reality.” In place of the banking model, Freire envisions education that is communal and consciousness raising; he calls it “problem-posing.” Freire suggests that teachers and students learn from each other, and that the curriculum should propose authentic problems for the learning community to solve together. Hybrid Pedagogy: A Digital Journal of Learning, Teaching, and Technology. Recently, we completed the final manuscript for a guidebook to support multimodal composition in writing- and project-intensive courses.

Hybrid Pedagogy: A Digital Journal of Learning, Teaching, and Technology

We wrote the book because we realized that each of our 15 years of experience teaching and researching multimodality were useful to other instructors and writers. Shortly after copyediting the final draft of the book, we traveled to Georgia Tech where we gave the opening plenary for the symposium, Multimodal Assessment: Navigating the Digital Turn. In that talk, we shared why we thought multimodality was important. After five long years in which we truly now appreciate the rich theoretical and collaborative work that goes into textbook production, we have completed Writer/Designer: A Guide to Making Multimodal Projects.

We took on this project largely because we’ve been doing this kind of work with our students since we first started in our PhD programs at Michigan Technological University well over a decade ago.

Wishbone Lets Kids Apply To Have Their Educations Crowdfunded. Eighty kids got to attend academic summer camps and after-school programs this year thanks to Wishbone, and today its education crowdfunding platform starts allowing needy children in the Bay Area or NYC to apply for assistance.

Wishbone Lets Kids Apply To Have Their Educations Crowdfunded

The non-profit startup has spent the last year building out its fundraising and impact fulfillment components. Now Wishbone is ready to scale and redefine the scholarship space. Unlocking Students’ Potential Wishbone lets donors browse profiles of kids and the programs they want to attend. People can choose to fund a specific child, or let Wishbone allocate the funds. Its goal is to narrow the opportunity gap between low- and high-income kids. But at its heart, Wishbone is about the stories of disadvantaged kids who receive funding for an academic program, realize their passion, and stay engaged with education.

Nous sommes entrés dans une deuxième phase où la notion de temps de travail n’a plus de sens. De plus en plus, le temps hors travail exerce une influence déterminante sur la productivité des personnes et, donc, sur l’efficacité des organisations. Educational Technology WebRing. Announcing: MOOC Research Initiative. The dramatic increase in online education, particularly Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), presents researchers, academics, administrators, learners, and policy makers with a range of questions as to the effectiveness of this format of teaching and learning.

Announcing: MOOC Research Initiative

To date, the impact of MOOCs and emerging forms of digital learning has been largely disseminated through press releases and university reports, with only limited peer-reviewed research publication. The proliferation of MOOCs in higher education requires a concerted and urgent research agenda. The MOOC Research Initiative (MRI) will fill this research gap by evaluating MOOCs and how they impact teaching, learning, and education in general.

MRI is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as part of a set of investments intended to explore the potential of MOOCs to extend access to postsecondary credentials through more personalized, more affordable pathways. Questions can be directed to gsiemens@athabascau.ca.
