At the end of 2009, Mobile Roadie made a big splash at Le Web for the company's do it yourself iPhone application builder. The app, for about $500, could create a customized application for individuals, and has seen strong traction in the entertainment space for artists including Taylor Swift and Madonna. Stupid policy, but the silly... Hi, I have updated my Samsung Galaxy S2 to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (O2 UK) recently and made a review. Feel free to check my Blog... I'm not massively keen on Unity, either. If I can adjust it so that it never 'pops-out', then I may warm to it more.
It has been 266 days since I read a newspaper as part of an experiment which began on 1 January 2010 to see what kind of impact it would have on me as a comms professional and average Joe. It's harder to come up with tabloid-esque headlines - the way headlines are written online compared to in a newspaper is very different. Newspaper headlines aim to catch your eye on a page where as online headlines have an element of SEO built-in . Not reading papers everyday has stopped that flow of eye-catching examples coming to me and it has had an impact of my ability to craft pun-filled headlines...which may be a blessing... Did you see that... - I've lost count of the amount of times I've sat at my desk and piped up with "Wow, did you hear about the..." before being stopped by "Yes! That was on page 3 yesterday."

High-Tech PR Blog >> Beyond the Hype: Top 5 B2B social media blogs (Google vs. Technorati vs ?)

http://blog.loispaul.com/blog/2010/09/top-5-b2b-social-media-blogs-google-vs-technorati.html?amp;utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+BeyondTheHype+(Beyond+the+Hype) Google recently made a useful change to its blog search algorithm . The change makes Google a better resource for finding more than just individual blog posts about a topic query, but an entire blog itself. A question I posed when sharing this post via Twitter and Facebook was whether this makes Technorati more irrelevant than it has become over the years. And do the results provide more value? As a way to compare the differences between the two blog search engines, I decided to compare the results for the query "B2B social media."

Can Amplify.com Help You Find Great Content? | Social Media Examiner

Most of us use the Internet every day. Whether for work, school or play, the Internet is woven into the very fabric of our lives. Although we spend so much of our time online, we rarely give much thought to what actually makes up the content of the Internet . http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/amplify-review/

Foursquare Launching New Must-Have Button for Websites

Foursquare has quietly added a new feature to its website this afternoon that you won't want to miss: a new "add to my foursquare" button that can be embedded on any website. If you own a business or publish a web page about any real-world location, this very simple button will allow visitors to your website to add going to your location as a "to-do" item and receive a push-notification to their phones whenever they check-in anywhere nearby. This small button could deliver a substantial part of the promise of Foursquare - tying together our discoveries online with our experiences offline. The new feature was first seen and reported on by the watchdog blog AboutFoursquare and the Foursquare site has been experiencing unusual difficulties loading this afternoon. If it's struggling right now, imagine the load when these buttons are launching pop-ups for locations from web pages all around the internet.
The key to engaging stakeholders through Facebook, said then Weber Shandwick’s, but now Edelman’s, Matthew Gain at Frocomm’s 2010 New Media Summit, is identifying existing communities where fans can be recruited, forming strategic alliances, leveraging off existing communication platforms and utilising Facebook advertising. Matthew’s ( @matthewgain ) presentation was one of the most informative of the summit, providing attendees with a wealth of hands-on knowledge. For this reason, and the value-add he provided for this report after the summit, the discussion of his presentation has been broken into two articles. This one focuses on tactical aspects of utilising Facebook for public relations results, whilst the companion piece discusses more strategic dimensions of the platform . Prior to encouraging us to get our virtual hands dirty, however, he provided these daunting (or inspiring, for professional communicators) stats:

This fall, brands, marketers and media turned to social media to generate real-time coverage and buzz among followers of New York Fashion Week — and nowhere was the impact of those efforts more apparent than on Twitter . According to social media measurement platform Trendrr , which produced the infographs below, more than 165,000 tweets pertaining to Fashion Week were posted between Thursday, September 9 and Thursday, September 16. Friday, September 10 was the biggest day at 34,000 tweets; hashtag #nyfw also became a trending topic on Twitter that day. Of the tweets delivered during that period, 70% came from female users, 50% were positive and 17% were negative in sentiment. The conversation generated a number of benefits for brands who were active during the week, most of which received a healthy increase in followers.

COMMS corner: Foursquare needs deputy mayors...seriously

This will be brief. You might think that this is a little over-the-top as most venues don't even reward mayors (or have them for that matter), but in time this could be really neat. Who knows what foursquare have planned for the platform over the coming months / years, but perhaps a tiered reward system isn't that silly.
