Pink Lemonade Layer Cake Recipe : Paula Deen. Brownie Batter Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes. Strawberry summer cake. It is not summer yet. In fact, it’s been raining for more than a week, and another week — the one in which I presume we’ll be introduced to our new mosquito overlords — is promised.

In fact, it was so cold that I met a friend for lunch today and had to wear both a light wool sweater and a jacket. It’s almost like summer looked at New York City and said “pbbbblt!” But I know it’s coming. Perhaps part of the glory of layer cakes is the intrigue of what’s beneath all of that swirled frosting, or the wonder of what fills the stacked layers under a perfectly composed exterior. Ever notice how layer cakes will offer one or two little hints as to what’s inside, without giving too much away?

Think about a beautifully frosted pink cake with a few white sprinkles and a single strawberry on top: one could imagine that there are layers of vanilla cake inside with possible alternating layers of sweet pink strawberry cake, or maybe even layer up on layer of strawberry cake with fresh strawberry jam in between. Truth is, we never can tell, but as far as I’m concerned, I’m always ready to find out. Yum. Pink Lemonade Cupcakes. I found this recipe at Daisycake's blog, and just had to try them. I baked up the cupcakes Thursday night, which I am very glad I did (more on that in another post). Such a pretty pale pink cake, only a pretty-princess-pink lemonade buttercream would do for frosting them. They taste wonderful too: the cake is moist, with a lovely bright lemonade flavor.

I cut up a full-size Milky Way to include on the top- mostly for aesthetic purposes… …but then it turned out to be a really good idea anyways. I couldn’t resist digging into these brownies before they were cooled off.

Somehow I managed to wrap up the rest and refrigerate them overnight. The Milky Way bars worked wonderfully in these brownies. These brownies are my new favorite. This recipe can be found here: Milky Way Brownies.
