Mike Mandiberg has used the awesome reflective properties of 3M Scotchlite 680 vinyl to wrap his bicycle and the effects are spectacular. Scotchlite 680 looks black in daylight but when flash or bright lights are pointed at it, the black vinyl becomes bright white allowing for high visibility.

Mike calls his creation the Bright Bike and he’s currently working with Beacon Graphics in New Jersey to offer a DIY kit that will be cheaper for consumers. [via] At the moment, the cheapest roll of Scotchlite 680 costs about $116 but if all goes well, Mike is hoping that he can convince Beacon Graphics to put out a cheaper and smaller roll suitable for covering a bicycle. Check out the video below of how Scotchlite 680 works on the finished bike. Bright Bike from Michael Mandiberg on Vimeo. Lance Armstrong.
