A few months ago I borrowed a drone from a company called Parrot. Officially the drone is called an AR.Drone 2.0, but for simplicity's sake, we're just going to call it the Parrot. The Parrot went on sale last May and retails for about $300. It's a quadcopter, meaning it's a miniature helicopter with four rotors; basically it looks like a giant four-leaf clover designed by Darth Vader. It's noisy and a bit fussy: it spits error messages at you from a comprehensive menu of them, and it recovers from catastrophes slowly and sulkily. (Pro tip: quadcopters mix poorly with greenery.)

An electronic device used to control machinery in water plants and other industrial facilities contains serious weaknesses that allow attackers to take it over remotely, the US agency that safeguards the nation's critical infrastructure has warned. Some models of the Modicon Quantum PLC used in industrial control systems contain multiple hidden accounts that use predetermined passwords to grant remote access, the Industrial Control System Cyber Emergency Response Team said in an advisory (PDF) issued on Tuesday. Palatine, Illinois–based Schneider Electric, the maker of the device, has produced fixes for some of the weaknesses and continues to develop additional mitigations. The PLCs, or programmable logic controllers, reside at the lowest levels of an industrial plant, where computerized sensors meet the valves, turbines, or other machinery that's being controlled.It’s Christmas time everywhere but cyberspace there isn’t holiday time for governments, last week a new cyber espionage attack has been detected, the website for the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) was compromised. Do estudo dos conflitos atuais, verificou-se que o uso simples da força não é mais considerado como solução política viável na maioria dos casos, tendo em vista o surgimento de novos atores e de aspectos até então inexistentes. Neste contexto, verificou-se como necessário ampliar a integração de organizações e entidades civis ao segmento militar, em função de objetivos políticos e estratégicos de interesse.

Dois especialistas de Cambrige descobriram uma "porta dos fundos" em um chip de computador ultilizado em sistemas militares e de aeronaves como as do modelo Boeing 787, o que permitiria que esse chip fosse acessado via internet, noticiou o The Guardian . Tal achado vem na carona do recém descoberto vírus Flame, o qual vem atacando sistemas de computadores no Irã, Síria e Arábia saudita - o que deve aumentar as preocupações sobre os riscos de ataques virtuais.
