AT is defined as any device, piece of equipment or system that helps bypass, work around or compensate for an individual's specific learning deficits. A number of studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of AT for individuals with LD. AT doesn't cure or eliminate learning difficulties, but it can help to reach potentials because it allows you to capitalize on strengths and bypass the areas of difficulty. AT is compensatory. Dyscalculia is a term referring to a wide range of life-long learning disabilities involving math. There is no single form of math disability, and difficulties vary from person to person and affect people differently in school and throughout life.

What are the effects of dyscalculia? Since disabilities involving math can be so different, the effects they have on a person's development can be just as different.
