Beautiful Collection of Surreal and Emotional Paintings by 非. Necessity brings him here, not pleasure. Artist Creates Amazing ‘Splatter Paint’ Portraits. Foshan-based Chinese street artist Chen Yingjie—also known as “Hua Tunan”—combines his training in classical Chinese painting with western graffiti style to create his incredible splatter paint portraits of animals. Using the relatively hard to control method of splattering paint, the artist was able to transform seemingly chaotic patterns into amazingly cohesive portraits of eagles, parrots, goldfish and even people.

Hauntingly realistic and expressive, Twisted Sifter described his art as “organized confusion at its finest”. View more of Chen’s beautiful pieces over here. Doyle who recently relocated to Hong Kong creates beautiful gestural paintings of birds, where the seemingly incomplete brushstrokes form the feathers and other details of the animal. In some strange way it reminds me of the story of the Renaissance painter Giotto who is rumored to have been able to draw a perfect circle without the aid of a compass, as if Doyle just picks up a dripping paint brush and in a few seconds paints a perfect bird.

In reality his work demonstrates a profound control of the paintbrush and careful understanding of the mediums he works with. Via email he tells me: Yes, what you see is what it appears to be—strokes of paint. I’ve always loved unfinished paintings because you could see the alchemic process of surface and paint transforming into a living person. With my paintings, it does take quite a bit of working and reworking to arrive at the place where every brush stroke fits into a fluidly flowing whole. Carne Griffiths | Gallery. The Art of Negative Space. L’artiste malaisien Tang Yau Hoong nous livre sa vision de l’espace dans sa série « The Art of Negative Space ». Sans délimitation réelle, ses illustrations confondent le plein et le vide, le ciel et la terre, donnant à voir non pas un mais des espaces qui se complètent et s’opposent au sein de chacune de ses créations.
