Mechanic and Shankman to Produce the Oscars. Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman will produce the 82nd Academy Awards® telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak announced today. This will be the first major Oscar show involvement for both men. "I couldn't be happier to have this talented team on board," said Sherak. "I've known Bill for many years so it's like putting Oscar in the care of a dear friend. Bill has a tremendous love and respect of film and will draw from his vast experience as a producer, a studio executive and a film historian to help make this year's Oscar telecast a memorable one.

"I'm thrilled to be producing the Oscars with Adam," said Mechanic. "The last time I was on the show was as a dancer, and to come back as a producer is such an unbelievable honor," said Shankman. Mechanic is the chairman and CEO of Pandemonium Films and the former chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment. Shankman’s directorial credits include (2008), (2007), (2002) and (2001).

Parmi eux figurent Seth Rogen, Michelle Williams, Michael Cera, Emily Blunt, Casey Affleck, James Franco ou encore l'Australien Hugh Jackman.

Producing the Academy Awards show is a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it – soon. Is AMPAS president Tom Sherak having trouble finding the perfect person (or people) to produce the next Academy Awards show, or is a producer already on board but playing coy about announcing the news? At the moment, the answer is hazy. We know that hiring an Oscar producer is always the first order of business for an Academy president after his election, which for Sherak came on August 18. When I asked AMPAS executive director Bruce Davis about the search on the 28th, he said Sherak was working on it every day, and that the decision “had better be well behind us in another month.”

That was 27 days ago – which means that Sherak should by now have made his list of seven-to-10 candidates, consulted with the Academy administration on the order in which to make offers, and started talking to the potential producers. “We’ll hope to hit a home run the first time,” said Davis.

Harvey's Back: The Sequel (Again)--The Hollywood Reporter | Risk.
