One of the current feature about gen Y is that it is the first generation that have grown up in a highly marketed world. Thanks to Naomi Klein and Bret Easton Ellis, this generation is supposed to know about the pain and frustrations marketing generate. Moreover, this generation spent a lot of time on TV or the Internet and so is able to detect every manipulation behind images. Today, gen Y does not makes choice under the (evil) influence of marketing but freely through friend recommendations. It is an outstanding generation because they are many (same birthrate as the babyboom period), they feel have a brand new feeling about the world and society and they have been raised during the blossom of the Internet. This generation is so interesting not only because they know how to take a full advantage of the Internet revolution but mainly because they are the leaders “de facto” of this revolution as they make the majority of the internet conctent and activity. Today, I had a lunch with some of my start-up partners. We are working hard together since several month and we had a refreshing talk wondering what we do fancy most on the web. After, few seconds, it was very clear as to me : I really love the Internet for its social side. That is funny, I now work with my facebook and twitter page constantly opened. GenY - individualists or decentraliz First genY do not accept the same social codes. They do not want to be submitted to the social codes that were once useful to work together, go out together, spend holidays together, etc. They just refuse what was once the common rule. Does that mean they are selfish or that they does not want to work?
