As my friend Jason Killingsworth says, “Print is dead…sexy.” Though we were forced to suspend our print edition this year, we’re still believers in beautiful images and words printed on paper. There’s nothing that compares to standing opposite a newsstand full of magazines on every topic you could—or would want to—imagine.
One of the aspects of my print job I’ll most miss was joining top editors from nearly every major magazine each year to judge the National Magazine Awards. Each time, I’d discover new titles finding creative ways to delight and surprise their respective audiences. So while we no longer publish print, we certainly still cherish it, and these magazines are the biggest reason why. 20. 19. 18. 17. 16. 15. 14. 13. 12. Without becoming an outlandish tabloid on the newsstand, this witty magazine is full of headlines that read like fiction, but are 100% true. 11. Comme j'ai déjà pu le faire remarquer précédemment, j'apporte beaucoup d'intérêt à l'art de la typographie et de la mise en page comme je vous avais déjà parlé d'une couverture du journal gratuit 20min titré la presse a de l'avenir ou encore de la peinture qui a longtemps été la première image qui apparaissait quand vous arriviez sur ce blog.
Après vous avoir présenté un florilège de couvertures magnifiques le mois dernier, cette fois je vais vous parler du magazine américain Esquire pour qui le texte des titres et sous-titres est bien plus que cela et devient une véritable mosaïque typographique illustrant la personnalité en couverture. Je vous avais déjà parlé de Esquire à l'occasion de ma critique sur le film Sherlock Holmes avec la couverture consacrée à Robert Downey Jr. Première dans son genre à devenir interactive en la passant devant la webcam de votre ordinateur.
