Is a Japanese novel by Yusuke Kishi, originally published in 2008 by Kodansha. It received the 29th Nihon SF Taisho Award. The novel has received a manga adaptation in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine, which began serialization in May 2012, and an anime television series adaptation by A-1 Pictures, which aired in Japan between September 2012 and March 2013. The manga series has been licensed by Vertical Inc and the anime by Sentai Filmworks in North America. The story is set in Japan a millennium from now. Saki Watanabe (渡辺 早季, Watanabe Saki?) Voiced by: Risa Taneda (12, 14 & 26 years old), Aya Endo (narrator, 36 years old) (Japanese), Emily Neves (English) Saki is the main character who has short brown hair initially and argues a lot with Satoru in the past. 2 years later, her hair grows to shoulder-length and she becomes Maria's girlfriend.

しかし、東の「夢」の、市場における「商品」としての賞味期限は早くも尽きてしまった。 そのことを東は本書の冒頭部分（序文）で端なくも告白している。 「筆者は・・・いま、その大きな夢について日本の読者に語りかけたくない、かけるべきではないとも感じている」（ではなぜ、この本をいま出版するのか？ ――引用者） 「いまそのような夢について語ることは、無用な反発を、そして軽蔑と失笑を招くのではないかと怖れている。 ちなみに「無用な反発を、そして軽蔑と失笑を」の「無用な」という修飾語は「無用」であろう。 「この本は、震災前の筆者にしか書けないものだった」（11頁） つまり本書は、五十年後、百年後どころか、序文が書かれた2011年9月11日の時点で、賞味期限が切れてからすでに半年が経過した「トンデモ商品」なのだ。 本書に対するわたしのコメント。 第一。 「一般意志2.0の世界においては、大衆の私的で動物的な行動（データベース）が、情報技術により集約され可視化され、政治家や専門家たちの公的な合意形成（熟議）を制約することになる。 「大衆＝動物的行動 vs. 「選良が大衆に従うわけではない。 「選良＝理性 vs. The Gods Themselves. This year I've started to attend a seminar on "Creative Writing & Sci-Fi" and this author was introduced to us.I'm delighted! "Stories of Your Life and Others" (2002) is a wonderful collection of short stories of such quality I haven't seen since Sturgeon, Cordwainer Smith or Octavia Butler. Engaging, intelligent, well researched, creative, puzzling amongst many other adjectives may be attributed to this book! I'll detail each story with comment & evaluation. "Tower of Babylon" (1990) Nebula Award winner is a kind of Sumerian-sci-fi! "Understand" (1991) have some points in common with Daniel Keyes' "Flowers for Algernon" (1959 and 1966) versions; nevertheless enhanced human intelligence is boarded from a very different point, confronting selfish and altruistic positions.
