Quick & Easy Hot Pad Tutorial. Hi friends.

Quick & Easy Hot Pad Tutorial

I’m Amy from Diary of a Quilter. I write a blog about my quilting fetish, fabric addiction, and other sewing/crafty projects that I squeeze in around the regular family hoopla that accompanies 4 kids and a busy husband. Fortunately they are all extremely patient with me and my constant projects. I’m excited to participate in this year’s Holiday Bake, Craft, and Sew Along. Nothing like getting a jump start on Christmas. So today I thought I’d share three quick and easy variations for making hot pads for a useful Christmas gift. The first version is the easiest. Now match fabric squares right-sides together and lay the batting square on top. Line up the squares and pin together. Sew a 3/8″ seam all the way around the square, leaving an opening about 4″ wide for turning right-side out.

Turn fabrics right-sides out with batting in the center. Another quick method creates 5 hot pads at once (or more, depending on the size of the pieces of fabric you use.) Joy's Hope: I heart Knitty Bitties. Meet Andrea.

First cut the bottom seam off your t- shirt. Now from the bottom up of your t-shirt, and using only the all white area, you are going to cut strips of 1 inch in width. Make sure you snip either end of your strips to create 2 strips each. Put your sewing machine to the “running stitch” or the “basting stitch.” Alfresco Bowl Covers Tutorial. Last year I was at a picnic organized by my parents.

Alfresco Bowl Covers Tutorial

My stepmother, who has a linen for every occasion, had a beautiful embroidered lace and linen cloth draped over the mouth of the lemonade pitcher. It had a strand of small crystals sewn to each corner to help weigh it down and keep it in place. Someone commented that it would be nice to have one for all the bowls too, to keep the bugs and tree debris off the food. Lightbulb moment! I decided to make a set of bowl covers in different sizes and weigh them down with beads on the corners. Rather than sew the beads on, however, I put eyelets in the corners so the beads could be hooked on and then removed so you can throw the fabric in the wash. The finished cover sizes are 12″, 10″ and 8″. Half yard of fabric (total) for the tops.Half yard of fabric for the bottoms. True Love ~ His + Hers Pillows.
