FFmpeg

FFmpeg is a complete, cross-platform solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. It includes libavcodec - the leading audio/video codec library. See the documentation for a complete feature list and the Changelog for recent changes. FFmpeg is free software licensed under the LGPL or GPL depending on your choice of configuration options. If you use FFmpeg or its constituent libraries, you must adhere to the terms of the license in question. You can find basic compliance information and get licensing help on our license and legal considerations page .
Have you ever wanted to take the audio output of one piece of software and send it to another? How about taking the output of that same program and send it to two others, then record the result in the first program? Or maybe you're a programmer who writes real-time audio and music applications and who is looking for a cross-platform API that enables not only device sharing but also inter-application audio routing, and is incredibly easy to learn and use ?

Open Sound Control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Open Sound Control (OSC) is a content format for messaging among computers, sound synthesizers, and other multimedia devices that are optimized for modern networking technology. Bringing the benefits of modern networking technology to the world of electronic musical instruments, OSC's advantages include interoperability, accuracy, flexibility, and enhanced organization and documentation. [ edit ] Motivation OSC is a content format developed at CNMAT by Adrian Freed and Matt Wright comparable to XML WDDX or JSON . It was originally intended for sharing music performance data (gestures, parameters and note sequences) between musical instruments (especially electronic musical instruments such as synthesizers ), computers, and other multimedia devices.
http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~cema/nodal/index.html#download What is Nodal? Nodal is generative software for composing music, interactive real-time improvisation, and a musical tool for experimentation and fun. Nodal uses a new method for creating and exploring musical patterns, probably unlike anything you've used before. You can play sounds using Nodal's built-in synthesiser or any MIDI compatible hardware or software instrument. Nodal is based around the concept of a user-defined network.

Nodal - Generative Music Software

http://chuck.cs.princeton.edu/ what is it? : ChucK is a new (and developing) audio programming language for real-time synthesis, composition, performance, and now, analysis - fully supported on MacOS X, Windows, and Linux. ChucK presents a new time-based, concurrent programming model that's highly precise and expressive (we call this strongly-timed ), as well as dynamic control rates, and the ability to add and modify code on-the-fly . In addition, ChucK supports MIDI, OSC, HID device, and multi-channel audio.

ChucK - [Programming Guide : Virtual Machine Options]

http://chuck.cs.princeton.edu/doc/program/vm.html The ChucK Compiler + Virtual Machine Let's start with the compiler/virtual machine, both of which runs in the same process. By now, you should have built/installed ChucK ( guide ), and perhaps taken the tutorial . This guide is intended to be more complete and referential than the tutorial. Additionally, see the language specification .
what is the Audicle? : Many software environments have been developed for computer music. Programming environments typically provide constructs to implement synthesis or musical algorithms, whereas runtime environments allow performers to exert parametric control over their programs onstage, in real-time. We present a potentially new type of audio programming environment that integrates the programmability of the development environment with elements of the runtime environment. The result, called the Audicle, is a duct-taped intersection of a concurrent smart editor, compiler, virtual machine, and debugger, all running in the same address space, sharing data, and working together at runtime. http://audicle.cs.princeton.edu/

http://www.sensomusic.com/usine/ Introducing Usine Usine is a universal audio software especially designed for live or studio utilization. Usine is made by musicians and audio engineers to respond to their specific problems in a lot of domains like live sampling, effect processing or sound design. Usine is a real musical instrument, flexible and powerful if you like to transform, resample the sound on stage, improvise and create unusual effect. Latest version Usine Stage : A new product called Usine Stage has been created, an in-between the free and the pro version.
