19 Homemade Remedies for Headache Pain
The other day the hubster came home from work with a pounding headache. He usually takes Excedrin for headache relief, but apparently that wasn’t cutting it on that particular day. He actually asked me if I would make up one of my “voodoo essential oil cures”. lol. Well, I am no expert, but my SISTER is, and I remembered her posting something on her blog, Camp Wander, about Peppermint and Lavender being effective in getting rid of headaches. So I dug through my ever-growing inventory of essential oils and found the Peppermint and Lavender and proceeded to work my “voodoo magic”. ;-) That “magic” consisted of putting a couple of teaspoons of fractionated coconut oil into a little roll-on bottle, and then adding a few drops each of the Peppermint and Lavender EO’s. I got distracted with something else after that, but about a half hour later I remembered to ask him how his head felt. Natural mosquito repellents (NaturalNews) Mosquitoes can be a nuisance when trying to enjoy the outdoors, especially if you're trying to host guests. The faint buzzing reminds us of those pesky pricks we receive when we least expect it. Soon thereafter the itching and swelling begins as our bodies react to the foreign attack. Sometimes deadly, the mosquito bite is more of a nuisance than anything. Carbon Dioxide/ Lactic Acid: When we have been exercising or working vigorously, our bodies give off more carbon dioxide. Dark Clothing: Mosquitoes are highly attracted to dark clothing. Fruity/ Flowery Fragrances: Another thing that attracts mosquitoes are certain scents. Moisture: When perspiring, mosquitoes are drawn not only to the chemicals that are released as a direct result of sweating, but also to the humidity around our body. Forget using commercial varieties of mosquito repellent. Some oils include: It is important to understand that there are several things that lower the effectiveness of repellents. 1.

Make Your Own Simple Exfoliating Body Scrub Morning Bump! Originally posted on 10/19/2011: I had a proud “Mom Moment” last week when my daughter decided to give making her own Body Scrub a try. Believe me, I don’t take credit for that girl’s incredible intelligence (well, maybe a teeny, tiny bit), but I do like to think I’ve been an example of how easy it is and how much sense it makes to make your own products for home, health and beauty. I’ve never been one to use body scrubs with any regularity. Last week we were making preparations for my son’s wedding when Britta came across the idea of making her own body scrub as a special pampering treatment before the big day. She LOVED the results! The “RECIPE” is basically a 2-to-1 ratio of sugar to coconut oil and as many drop of essential oil as you like. Put the amount of sugar you want in a jar or bowl, add 1/2 that amount of coconut oil that you have warmed up in the microwave for a few seconds to make it liquid and the lavender drops, and stir. Wow! Ingredients: Directions:

Natural Homemade Shampoo- Easy Recipe I’ve made natural alternatives to most of our household products and toiletry product, but shampoo was by far the toughest. I tried the “no-poo” method, which has great results for some, but did not work on me at all (and I have some terrible Christmas pictures to prove it!). If you have coarse hair that isn’t naturally oily, this method may be great for you! I have baby-fine hair and it didn’t work for me. I also missed the foaming aspect of shampoo (I know… the “foam” in regular shampoo is made by chemicals and detergents…) I tried plain liquid castille soap, which left a tangled mess, and I tried a bunch of homemade recipes that didn’t work well at all. Finally, at the inspiration of a natural coconut milk (scented) shampoo that I love, I’ve finally found a recipe that I’m happy with and that doesn’t leave my hair tangled, oily or both. It works on kids hair too (that’s a picture of my daughter’s newly washed hair) though it isn’t tear free, so watch the eyes! How to Make Natural Shampoo:

DIY Projects, Homemade Body Product Recipes, Titanic Costumes, and Tasty Food | DIY Mineral Make-up · Humblebee & Me This is a project my friend Sarah found. She’s on a quest to make some all-natural tinted moisturizer/light foundation, and this was the starting point. So, we ordered up all of the ingredients, and this weekend we made some fleshy-coloured face powder. It’s simple enough. In the end, this is what we did, more or less. 8 tsp titanium dioxide (micronized is best, but we just used normal stuff—it was a bit lumpy) 1 tbsp sericite mica 4 tsp zinc oxide 1 tsp magnesium stearate 1½–2 tsp yellow oxide ¼ tsp brown oxide Pinch of red oxide ¼ tsp jojoba oil 5 drops vitamin E oilRubbing alcohol, optionalMix together the first four ingredients, and then add half of each oxide.

The End of Acne - Finally! While doing research today, I came across some very interesting information that will likely put an end to acne for everyone. All you need is four key ingredients: Honey, baking soda, powdered oats and coconut oil. This article describes the role of each, with references to scientific studies, in controlling your acne. You can use this routine to help keep your skin healthy and glowing even if you do not have acne. Controlling acne is actually easy. All you have to do is keep your pores free-flowing so they can't back up with sebum and oils. First, learn how it works. How it Works: Honey is known for its antibacterial properties. The most important part of this information is the honey. The baking soda is included for its abrasive properties. Dead skin cells that can plug your pores are easily removed with baking soda. Oatmeal has long been recognized as a beneficial ingredient to skin care. The oatmeal is soothing and anti-inflammatory. The Routine: Resources: 1.

DIY Body Wash! Turn a $1 Bar of Soap into Luxurious Body Wash! As you know, I enjoy the Dollar Tree....A LOT. While I was there picking up supplies for our DIY Halloween T-Shirts, I came across a bar of Oil of Olay. I'm not a fan of bar soap but I thought I could turn it into a body wash. And guess what?! I did! Now I'm going to show you how to do it too! Here's what you're going to need: Bar of Soap (any kind)Cheese Grater (or knife if the soap is soft enough)WaterMeasuring cup (1 cup)PotHeat Safe SpoonStoveContainer for your Body Wash Your first step is to grate your soap. I only grated half of my bar. Now, since I didn't want a ton of body wash, I only added 2 cups of water. Place your pot over your stove and turn it on to a medium heat. My skin has been a bit dry lately so I added a cup of coconut milk for added moisture. After your soap flakes or chunks have dissolved, turn off your stove and let your mixture cool several hours. If you add water, heat it up and stir again. That's all there is to it! I LOVE making my own body wash!

Listening to Young Atheists: Lessons for a Stronger Christianity Left, the pastor George Whitefield; right, the philosopher David Hume (Wikimedia Commons) "Church became all about ceremony, handholding, and kumbaya," Phil said with a look of disgust. "I missed my old youth pastor. He actually knew the Bible." I have known a lot of atheists. Phil was in my office as part of a project that began last year. What led you to become an atheist? Given that the New Atheism fashions itself as a movement that is ruthlessly scientific, it should come as no surprise that those answering my question usually attribute the decision to the purely rational and objective: one invokes his understanding of science; another says it was her exploration of the claims of this or that religion; and still others will say that religious beliefs are illogical, and so on. Christianity, when it is taken seriously, compels its adherents to engage the world, not retreat from it. This brings me back to Phil. He thought for a moment. I checked my notes. They had attended church

Coconut Oil - Certified Organic Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions Wet-milled Traditionally Made Coconut Oil How We Discovered this Unique Coconut Oil When I first read about the wonderful benefits of coconut oil, I asked my wife Marianita, who grew up on a coconut plantation in the Philippines, if there was a more natural way to extract the oil from the coconut, so that we didn’t have to buy the refined coconut oils found in all the stores in the Philippines. Before long we had businesses contacting us asking how to order it in bulk. Today, more than 10 years later, there are other companies now selling coconut oil again in the US, most of them mass-produced by machines. Brian Shilhavy, Founder, Tropical Traditions, Inc.
